I opened my eyes to see Calum standing over me."Come on." He spoke as he grabbed my arm and pulled me up.
"Wh-where are we going?" I stuttered.
"YOU are going to the basement." He nodded as he opened a door and started to pull me down the stairs.
"What, no, why can't I just stay up there with you? You can't do anything if I'm down here." I tried to convince him.
"Actually, that's exactly why you're down here. Also, it was either I put a bullet in your head, or I lock you down here. Now, I quite like you, so I don't want to kill you, leaving this as the only option." He sighed, letting me go. I looked at him.
"Can you at least untie my hands?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Please. The skin is virtually raw, I'm going to die if they get infected." I pleaded. He sighed.
"I'm sorry, I can't. I'll bring your dinner down in about an hour." He mumbled before rushing back up the stairs.
"Please don't leave me-." The door slammed shut.
I stared blankly at the wall, waiting for any sign that this was just a sick, cruel dream. The sign didn't come. Suddenly, the door opened and I heard footsteps walking down the wooden stairs. Luke smiled gently at me as he looked at me.
"How you holding up?" he asked. I shrugged.
"My wrists have never hurt so much before." I mumbled. He sighed and nodded as he sat next to me, both of our backs against the wall.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked. He looked at me.
"I was once in your position." He shrugged. My eyes widened.
"What?" I scoffed. He nodded and looked at me.
"The first time that Calum escaped, he rolled into my sister's bedroom. I heard the commotion and ran along to see what was going on. I convinced him to take me instead of her and he took me here. Ashton and Michael were already here, but they were recruited in the same way." He explained.
"What's going to happen to me?" I choked. He looked at me with sad eyes.
"It's different for every person. Michael was only down here for half a day before he was recruited, but I was down here for a week before Calum and Ashton decided that I would be recruited. I'm honestly not sure how long you'll be down here for." He sighed. I nodded and looked down, trying to hide my tears.
"Hey, I'm not going to let them hurt you. I'm not going to let them do anything to you, okay?" he spoke. I nodded and smiled gently at him.
"Thank you." I whispered. He returned the smile and nodded before standing up and heading back towards the stairs.
"I'll bring your dinner down soon. Hang in there, okay?" he spoke. I nodded.
"Oh, before I forget." He muttered before taking out a knife and walking towards me again. My eyes widened as I shrunk away.
"What are you doing-." He took my wrists and cut them free.
"Thank you." I smiled. He returned it before going back to the stairs and leaving the basement.
