My eyes flew open as I felt something trickle down my legs. I sat up and looked at the sheets. My eyes widened as I saw the wet patch. I looked at Luke."Babe, wake up." I spoke, gently nudging his shoulder.
"Mm." he mumbled before rolling over so that he was facing me, but he was still asleep.
"Luke." I spat.
"Five more minutes." He yawned, keeping his eyes closed. I rolled my eyes before flicking his ear.
"Ow." He groaned as he opened his eyes.
"My water just broke, Luke." I gulped. His eyes widened as he shot up.
"Jesus, okay. Let's get you to the hospital." He spoke, pulling on a shirt and grabbing our pre-packed bag before helping me to sit up.
"But I'm only wearing your shirt and underwear." I groaned.
"Babe, you're in labour, what you're wearing should be the least of your worries." He chuckled as he helped me through the house and to the car.
"You okay, love?" Luke asked as he walked me into the hospital, one hand on my back and the other grasped in mine.
"It hurts, Luke." I choked.
"I know, babe, I know." he nodded, kissing my head as we walked in.
"My wife is in labour! Help!" Luke yelled, looking around. I gulped as I was pushed into a wheelchair and taken into a room.
"How far apart are the contractions?" the nurse asked as she helped me into the bed.
"Um, I don't know, about five minutes." Luke gulped.
"That means that baby Hemmings is nearly here. Get ready, Mrs Hemmings." The nurse spoke.
After what felt like hours of pushing, I heard crying.
"Well done, Mrs Hemmings." The nurse smiled as she wrapped our baby in a pink blanket.
"Well done, babe." Luke smiled as he kissed my head.
"Would daddy like to hold his baby daughter?" the nurse asked. Luke gulped and nodded. The nurse gently put our baby into Luke's arms. I looked at him as he cradled her gently.
"She's beautiful." He choked.
"She's got your eyes." I smiled. He returned it.
"What do you want to call her?" I asked. Luke looked at our baby, a small smile on his lips as he thought.
"I was thinking Elizabeth, or Liz, after mum." He spoke, looking at me.
"I love that idea. It's traditional, but personal." I nodded. He smiled down at her.
"What's wrong, baby?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Nothing, it's just...we're finally a family." He spoke as a tear rolled down his cheek. I nodded as I kissed him again.
"I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too, Luke."
