Chapter 17: Instantly Famous

Instead of walking towards her courtyard, she walked towards her Father’s study room and knocked on it.

“Come in…” a low voice of her father said.

Zexel opened the door gently, putting on her obedient facade, and bowed slightly to Fan Xuan Yan.

“Lihua greets Father,” she gently said.

“Take a seat,” Fan Xuan began to express his doting eyes to Zexel. But Zexel didn’t know why, she was disgusted by the doting favoritism of her father.

“Father, Lihua just came back from the food tasting and all their dishes were really unique but at the same time, they were all delicious. Lihua brought a lot for you to taste,” Zexel prepared the plates as she served her father all the dishes she had her servant cook.

She served five different dishes, which were the Taco from Mexico, Paella from Spain, Chicken Rice from Singapore, Chicken Parm from Australia, and Adobo from the Philippines.

Her ultimate goal for this was to let Fan Xuan Yan freely promote the place.

“Well, Father, this is the so-called Taco, this is Paella, then this is Chicken Rice, that one is Chicken Parm, and my favorite, Adobo. Father, Lihua knows that it looks so new, but it’s really delicious. Try it,” Zexel gave him a pair of chopsticks, so Fan Xuan Yan became curious about the taste of the unfamiliar food in front of him.

But since his daughter said that it was all delicious, there was no harm in trying. After he took a bite of each food, Fan Xuan Yan didn’t know why, but the food was so flavorful.

It spread in his mouth and the taste was really approved by his taste buds.

He couldn’t help but finish all the food his daughter let him eat.

“Now this Father knows why you like this Adowbow (Adobo), or whatever it’s called. It was like a combination of salty, sweet, and sour taste. But this Father personally likes this Taco. It’s a finger food, but also healthy for me since the fillings are all vegetables. When will this restaurant open? This Father will personally go there and check it with the other officials,” Fan Xuan Yan smiled at his daughter as if he saw a treasure.

“Really, Father? You’ll help my friend promote her restaurant?” Fan Xuan Yan simply nodded as Zexel hugged him and thanked him.

“This Daughter did manage to have 20 invitations for their first day. And she said that after they give the invitation, someone will deliver a free five different food samples for them to taste. But she also said that it will only be a small portion so that everyone will come to her restaurant and let them buy some of her unique foods,” she happily said as she completed her goals.

“Alright, give me those 20 invitations and this Father will give them to the fellow officials,” Zexel continued to nod.

They chatted for a while to explain that each invitation could only be used for 4 people each. Zexel also let her grandmother taste the food. After eating, both of them were extremely satisfied and asked her which day the restaurant would open.

It’s been a week since, and today was the day the restaurant would officially open. As her Father had promised, he really gave his fellow officials the invitations and even promoted it like he was the first who discovered this treasure.

The day her father gave out the invitations, they had only decided to come because they didn’t want Fan Xuan Yan to lose face.[1] But yesterday, Zexel delivered five different dishes to each person who received the invitation as a small sample and invited them personally to her restaurant.
