Chapter 52: Another Contract Summon

They finished the test with flying colors. What do you expect? With the help of their pagodas and knowledge from the modern era, they were quite knowledgeable. But they didn’t know they were all just assuming.

The test wasn’t really over.

Just as they stepped inside the Scarlett Academy, a large explosion occurred. The 15 people who passed the third test were swallowed by a black hole after the blast.

"Welcome to the fourth and final test, my dear students. Let’s see if you can still manage to pass this one," an insane voice said.

"Wait, what? I thought the test was only divided into three?" Fan Qingyou asked. She was too tired from the last test. And now another one? She wasn’t with Feng Guan Xi, so she felt scared.

She actually regretted entering this hellhole, but what did she expect? The Scarlett Academy rarely accepted more than five students every three years. All of them were the best of the best. The most accepted so far was only four.

"Well, it’s a secret test, dear. This is the reason why the Academy only accepts four or fewer students every three years—we pressure them greatly. Anyone who does not pass this test will forget the fourth trial after it ends," the voice said. All fifteen participants shivered. Well, except Zexel’s group.

It might be an individual test, so they wouldn’t hold back.

Zexel didn’t see this coming. There were a lot of monsters—she had been killing them one after another. They seemed to spawn endlessly.

The voice had told them to discover the real goal in order to pass the test. She still had no idea what she needed to do.

Then another monster appeared in front of her. She infused qi into her fist and punched the creature.

It had been an hour since she was brought here, and all she had done was fight and kill.

She panted, sweat dripping profusely from her body. She felt sticky and stinky, so she ran to find a river.

After just ten minutes, she managed to smile and washed herself.

"Tulong! Pakiusap tulungan niyo ako!" (Help! Please help me!) a voice cried out. Zexel’s brows knitted. Did she just hear someone?

She swam across the river toward the sound. The same phrases were still being shouted. She didn’t know if it was a human or something else.

"May tao ba diyan? May naririnig akong yabag. Kung sino ka man, pakiusap tulungan mo ako." (Is anyone there? I hear footsteps. Whoever you are, please help me.) Zexel heard the plea. The voice sounded too desperate to ignore.

"Teka! Ikaw ba 'yung naririnig ko? Oh! Nakalimutan ko! Hindi mo pala ako maiintindihan. Bakit ba ang tanga ko?" (Wait, you’re the one I heard? Oh! I forgot, you probably don’t understand me. Why am I so stupid?) Zexel finally saw the creature that had been calling out.

It had a tail like a mermaid, but also a pair of legs and arms. It had four eyes, two mouths, and wings. Its skin was purple, and it had long hair that reached its back.

"Naiintindihan kita." (I can understand you.) Zexel said. The creature widened its eyes and burst into tears.

"Mabuti naman! Nagpapasalamat akong naiintindihan mo ako. Pakiusap, tulungan mong tanggalin ang malaking bato na ito sa buntot ko. Handa akong maglingkod sa iyo!" (That’s good! I’m thankful you can understand me. Please help remove this big rock from my tail. I’m willing to serve you!) the creature said.

Zexel looked at the creature’s tail and saw it was bleeding. She sighed and swam over. With her qi-infused fist, she managed to break the rock trapping the tail.

Then she used her qi to heal the creature’s injuries.

"Salamat." (Thank you.) the creature whispered sincerely.

"Anong tawag sa uri niyo?" (What is your kind called?) Zexel asked. The creature looked down, embarrassed in front of a human.

"Kami ay isang Panggetsa Nigesuntu—isang nilalang na pinagsama mula sa sirena, tao, at engkantong may pakpak. Maaari kaming maglakbay gamit ang himpapawid, tubig, o kahit sa lupa. Kasing bilis kami ng tunog. Maaari rin kaming maging tagapagpadala ng salita o maging tulong sa iyo."
(We are called Panggetsa Nigesuntu, a creature born from mermaid, human, and winged fairy. We can travel by air, water, or land. We are as fast as sound. We can be useful messengers and assistants.) the creature explained.

"Ganoon ba? Wala ka bang pamilya?" (Is that so? Don’t you have any family?) Zexel asked curiously. The creature shook its head.

"Ako na ang huli sa aming uri. May mga grupo na hindi namin alam kung saan nanggaling ang humahabol sa amin. Kinukuha nila kami at dinadala sa hindi namin alam na lugar. Pagkatapos noon, hindi na namin alam kung ano ang nangyayari sa mga kauri namin. Patay na ang lahat. Nakatakas lang ako dahil sa sakripisyo ng aking mga magulang."
(I’m the last of my kind. A group—we don’t know where they came from—hunts us. They capture us and take us to an unknown place. After that, we never know what happens. All of my kin are dead. I escaped only because of my parents’ sacrifice.)

Zexel felt pity for the creature called Panggetsa Nigesuntu. It would be useful to her, so she decided to form a contract.

"Makikipagkontrata ako sa iyo. 'Wag kang mag-alala, poprotektahan kita mula sa mga humahabol sa iyo."
(I’ll form a contract with you. Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from those who are after you.) Zexel reassured the creature.

The creature’s eyes sparkled and it smiled. The contract was immediately sealed. Zexel placed the creature into her pagoda and continued to wash herself.

Fun Fact.

Panggetsa Nigesuntu- (Pang-get-sa Ni-ge-sun-tu) it was a creature I created so if you research about it. You'll never see one. Just imagine a lizard who become a human and had a wings. That was what I portray about this creatures.

Just remember, its tail looks like the tail of mermaids then had the body of human and had a thin wings like the wings of fairy. Its skin tone is color Purple and you cannot Identify its gender since he neither had a male private part nor female private part.

How did I came up to this name?

My sister and my brother had a conversation about the anime called Naruto Shippuden. They are arguing about how Itachi counter the genjutsu which was (pangkontra ng genjutsu) in tagalog as my brother say. We just don't know how my sister came up to that word which was jumbled of the said word. We jusr laugh that time and complete forgot the conversation thet got until the next day.
