"So, where are we going?" Asked Jennie once her and Jimin got into his car.
The sky was grey and the rain heavy. November was Jennie's least favorite month, Seoul looked dull, almost dead at this time of the year. That and the cold weather were the worse combination for her to find motivation in doing anything, and the previous night as well as the perspective of this date only accentuated that feeling.
"Well..." Answered the boy. "I was first thinking we could go and have a walk at the Deoksugung Park but, I think it would be better to skip that part and directly head to our second spot."
Jennie relieved a sigh. Despite her friend not really answering her question, the fact that they wouldn't have to go outside was more than welcomed.
The rest of the car ride was silent, and she got lost in her thoughts for a moment. So far, this just looked like a regular hangout they used to have, nothing romantic at all. But she knew it wouldn't last.
"Go out with me. One date. Forget the way you already see me and let me try to court you."
Jimin was going to use this chance for a complete other purpose. She felt sad all of a sudden. The boy had apparently been smitten with her for a long time, and for him to have made such a blunt confession must have been really hard.
He had been brave.
Contrary to her, who's demonstration of affection toward Lisa had simply resulted in a messy series of failures and one big mistake.
Great, she thought, once again, she couldn't help but bring her in her mind. God, was she that obsessed? She started to wonder where Thai girl was at this moment. She clearly hadn't spent the night at her apartment, did she leave her for better company? Had it been too hard for her to just stay?
Her blood began to boil, but as soon as she realized it, she mentally slapped herself.
You wanted her to be absent this morning, but now you're angry she actually was?
God, she was so incoherent sometimes...
"Here we are." She heard Jimin announce as he parked his car in front of a certain building that Jennie had no difficulty to recognize, and a sincere smile suddenly replaced her grumpy face.
Le Soulage.
If Jennie had to make a top 3 of her favorite places in the city, this one would easily top it. This small and cozy café was the perfect spot for her to study or read while enjoying hot drinks and sweets. This special site had been created and implanted in Seoul by a French couple five years ago. She clearly remembered it because she had been around when it first opened its doors. She had been looking for a place to hide at the time and when she walked by it, she couldn't help but stop and instantly be seduced by the warm atmosphere it gave off.
The café's name had immediately caught her attention as well. Soulage meant relief. It was the first French word she had learned, and its play on words with Seoul was just too adorable for her not to be totally swooned.
She rapidly became a regular client, spending at least two or three afternoons in it per week. She had gone there a few times with Hwasa or Irene, but never with Jimin, which made her wonder how -or even if- had he known about her love for this hidden paradise of her. Whether it was pure luck or not, she was glad, and silently thanked him for the attention.
Still not saying anything, they both entered the café, and took a sit at small table in the far corner. A few clients were present, as usual, making the place quiet yet relaxing.
