Chapter 1:Leaves home

                  "One step at a time"

"Hhheeyyy kiddy it's time!
Wake up. At 10am we are supposed to be at the bus station. You don't wanna miss this don't you?"

Of course I don't but damn!I can't even have enough in my bed for the last time!Fuck school....I know these are always the most awaited days in one's life but...ah don't mention it."Good morning Mom!"I said out loud as I rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower.Daddy never gets tired of calling me out loud.,"Amanda...how far are you to get finished?we're getting late already!" Oh no Dad...I'm already having my shoes on and it's one hour earlier. I thought within me as I almost tripped over the corridor running for my breakfast before I'm blown up again.
Dad was already outside with my bags waiting for me...so odd right?I mean why's he rushing anyway?I'm the one getting admitted or am I getting it all wrong? whatever . He seemed so eager for this. He rushed from place to the other tapping on his fingers over each other while his eyes stuck on the ground.

What's up with Dad? Okay maybe I'm viewing this in a wrong way but how comes he's so unsettled?

"Mom.,,is something wrong somewhere?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Dad is all over acting like something is just not right somewhere" I was getting all worried now. Is he not financially okay with me going to school? Well at least he can tell me. I can decide not to go to school. It's not that must anyway isn't it? Oh come on.. I know it is but daddy shouldn't be into it that much. I mean I can stay home and...

"Actually!" Oh shite that's mom.."you know you're getting away from home where you're supposed to take care of yourself without any of us around. He must be worried. You're still our only daughter and this should get him on his knees cause your safety matters a lot." Oh no.!don't tell me daddy is all worried cause of my safety...I mean yeah he has to be but .. I'm big now right? 17 looks good in me and wait it's campus life we're talking about...yes I'm super big and infact I'm gonna have my own flat and live like an adult.

"Amanda? What's taking you so long in there? I thought you just said you're done...I'm having your bags can you get out we make our way off?"

At that time Daniel,our first born wasn't home. He had just moved to our neighbour town where he was employed as a manager in a KENHA company. Please don't ask what KENHA stands for. I didn't even ask much when I was informed where Daniel is going to. After all what matters is that he's a manager. I bet he's a good one though.Anyway, Donny my younger brother was already at school. He always says he wants to be a human resource manager in the biggest hotel in town, Golf Hotel. There were more good hotels than that like Friends Hotel, Francois Hotel to mention a few yeah. But Donny just wanted Golf and nothing seemed to stop him. He was 10 but full of dreams I see huh!

"Daughter, please be careful go and and shine..you know I love you right? I believe in you." That's all mom? Only that? I'm going for months now and your words can't even fill a line. "Yes Mommy! Bye I love you too" I said that while running to my dad who wasn't even looking at me. Mom was there at the door staring at me as if I was growing some scary horns in my back as I ran. She seemed disturbed though. Her eyes grew wet as she kept on looking. I stood to look back at her and she fought it back with a smile. I'd buy that. I smiled back and waved following daddy with shorter strides than his ofcourse. It's all growing to a new chapter of my life. I can fill it as I walked behind my dad. I always get off our compound to see friends and visit aunts and uncles but believe me you this felt different.

"I already miss home. I know...."
