NEW YORK CITY
The last time Buffy had been to New York had been during her girly 21st birthday weekend with Caroline last year. They had gone to a show on Broadway and then they had gone to the art show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the showcase.
The first showcase a piece of Buffy's artwork had been displayed.
It had only been 12 hours since she and Damon arrived in the city and Buffy was already going crazy. This was the longest she had been apart from her daughter since she was born and her body was itching constantly. Given that Damon had still been asleep in his hotel room when she woke up, she had bolted the second she could.
She needed a moment of peace away from Damon who was determined to make sure they had fun while they were here.
Buffy wasn't here to have fun.
She was here to find out where Katherine was but Damon was holding out which meant he probably knew that she was planning something.Sitting on the rooftop terrace of the cafe she had found in Brooklyn, Buffy sipped on her expresso as she listened to the sounds of the city around her. She had spoken to Klaus to check on Joy once she and Damon had arrived at the hotel last night, only for him to reveal that his sister would be making her appearance.
And not the sister who could cast tracking spells.
Rebekah.
Mary still wasn't answering her phone following the reveal of Kol's death.
Given Damon wasn't fessing up, Rebekah coming to help meant Buffy wouldn't have to resort to flirting, at least not completely. If she had to do anything sexual with Damon she would literally throw up. Damon was hot but even with nullified emotions her body shivered in disgust at the prospect.
With both of her and Rebekah watching him, all it took was for Damon to make one little slip-up.Damon wasn't the most subtle person in the world.
Spotting the incoming call from Giles, Buffy just hit ignore before dumping her phone on the glass table and picking up her sketchbook. She was in no mood to talk to Giles. Not only would he probably go all lecture-dad mode on her now that the truth about her demon side was out but the fact was he needed her help.
Once again apocalypse was brewing in Sunnydale.
Apparently, the seal that The First was so determined to open, the seal currently locked up by the spell that was intertwined with The Other Side was close to unlocking. Once Bonnie lowered the Other Side, it would break the seal, leading to The First being able to get its plans to start the apocalypse going.
Either way, once The Other Side was down...it was the end of the world.
Giles wanted her in Sunnydale to start protecting potential Slayers, but how was that her responsibility?
Why should she have to leave her newborn and protect a bunch of potential Slayers? Why was she the one being expected to give up everything again?
She was so sick of being the supernatural answer to every fucking problem!
As her plate of pancakes was lowered in front of her, Buffy shot a tight smile at the waitress before grabbing her mimosa.
A gust of wind followed by the seat being taken beside her had Buffy grinning "I got you one too."Rebekah giggled as she grabbed the second mimosa that had been positioned in her seat, having been set aside for her "Is Damon still breathing dear sister?"
"For now." Buffy hummed as she raised her glass to her lips before glancing at her friend only to groan as she spotted the all-knowing look on Rebekah's face "Don't give me that look."
