I Only See You

Forbes Family Dinner Night.

Given that Caroline had been pushing for her to come over since her arrival back in Mystic Falls, Buffy had been ordered to attend dinner with her and Liz.

Something she used to do a lot as a kid. On Wednesday nights Liz and her ex Bill would watch her during her parent's date night and she would have dinner with them all.

Unfortunately, mid-way through a bite of her burger she had spilled about her break up with Stefan.

To say Caroline had been shocked had been an understatement. 

"Why did you break up with Stefan?!" Caroline practically screeched causing both Liz and Buffy to flinch at the higher octave erupting from the cheerleader's voice.

"You guys are goals! Your kids would be so cute!"

The mention of having children caused Buffy to choke on her water, harsh coughs escaping her system. 
Liz quickly tapped her back but it didn't help the horror that had appeared on Buffy's face at the mere mention of children.

Not only could vampires not have kids.

But Slayers were not meant to have them. She didn't even know if a Slayer had ever had a child before, let alone while being the active warrior.

Letting out an awkward laugh, Buffy started shoveling curly fries into her mouth out of panic "Care, I am never having kids."

She seriously could never see herself as a mother.

How the hell would she raise a kid in this kind of world?

Caroline narrowed her gaze slightly as she sipped her soda before quickly shaking her head. She knew someday in the future Buffy was going to be an amazing mother.

"Nope, I don't buy that."

The pushing caused Buffy to sigh. Turning to Liz for help she watched her godmother through begging eyes "Aunt Liz, help, Caroline is trying to force me to give her nieces and nephews."

Liz chuckled as she continued to focus on her food, thoroughly enjoying the argument going on between the two girls. Raising her fork she pointed it right in Buffy's direction "Not children till you are, minimum in your 20s."

Buffy snorted at that. The likelihood that she would ever reach 20 was slim to numb. If she made it to 18 it would be a freaking miracle "Yeah, if that ever happens."

Liz narrowed her gaze. She didn't like how hopeless Buffy sounded at the prospect of having a future "Buffy Anne Summers."

The full name was being used against her.

That was not a good sign.

Buffy stuttered nervously trying to think about what to say "I mean...uh...what if I'm in jail. That's what all my teachers say." It was not even a lie. Every single teacher stared at her like a bomb ready to go off.

"And don't you listen to them. You have been a model student recently and you keep going you will be graduating this year like you were supposed to do."

The mention of Buffy graduating and leaving Mystic Fall at the end of the year caused Caroline to pout "No, if you graduate we won't be able to senior prank night together."

Buffy rolled her eyes "Caroline."

Suddenly, the disappointment faded as Caroline started to contemplate all of the possibilities if Buffy was in college next year "Although you will be in college. Ooh frat parties, college guys! I totally support this now."

She was already planning on how to get Buffy to go to Whitmore so she could spend her weekends at the dorms meeting hot college guys.

Buffy could practically see the wheels turning in Caroline's head.

A very scary idea.

Liz cleared her throat as she glanced up from her phone which was lighting up every few seconds.
 
"Girls It's one of my deputies I need to go the station. You two take care of each other." Tossing her napkin onto her plate she stood up and kissed both girls on the top of their heads before grabbing her gun and badge.

Liz paused right next to Buffy squeezing her shoulders softly "B, don't let my daughter convince you to name your first child Caroline Jr. Trust me she will try."

Buffy snorted before watching as Liz rushed out of the house, however, she paused as she spotted the disappointed look on Caroline's face.

Without hesitation, Buffy was on her feet pulling Caroline out of her chair "Want to find your mom's liquor stash?"

"Yes please!"
