Smiling down at her sandwich, Lexi sighs in content as she takes a bite. The day had been mostly unproblematic: she had woken up early to run in the woods, scouting out potential hideaways, she had caught Isaac up in three subjects, and she hadn't seen Gerard at all. Everything was perfect.

Until Scott and Stiles come barreling into the room with wide eyes and rapid heartbeats. They talk over each other, neither bothering to pause for the other. Lexi just stares at them over her sandwich until they finally stop to breathe.

In which case, her sandwich falls apart.

With a glare on her face, she lets the bread fall onto her plate as she leans back in her chair. "Let's try this again," she says slowly. "Why are you interrupting my lunch break?"

"So, you know how Derek turned Erica?"

"He what?!" Lexi shouts with furious eyes.

Stiles chuckles nervously as he shrinks away from her. "Yeah, like yesterday."

Lexi clenches her jaw. "I'm going to kill him," she mutters. "The Argents won't kill him—I will."

"No, listen," Scott says, holding out his palms. "We think he's going after Boyd next."

"Boyd?" Lexi frowns. "Vernon Boyd? Why?"

"He wasn't at lunch," Stiles explains. "He always sits at the same place, but he's not there."

"What if he's sick?"

"He's not!" Scott groans. "Trust me, he's going after Boyd."

"Then, what would you like to do?" She narrows her eyes at the young beta as annoyance floods her veins. "You have school. I have to teach. We can't do much until three."

The boys glance at each other. "We're going now," Scott says. "I'm going to the ice rink, Stiles is going to his house."

Stiles fidgets with his fingers at the mention of his job. He purses his lips and avoids Lexi's gaze as she snaps, "What?"

"Maybe we should let him," he says. Both Lexi and Scott frown. "Boyd, you know? You said Derek's giving them a choice, right?"

"We can't," Scott replies.

"You gotta admit, Erica looks pretty good." Stiles shrugs, toeing the floor. "You know, the word 'sensational' comes to mind."

"Hypothetical for you, Stiles." Lexi leans forward, pressing her palms against the desk. "How do you think she'll look with a wolfsbane bullet in her head?"

The human winces, shaking his head. "All I'm saying is maybe this one isn't totally our responsibility."

"You're right," Lexi says. "It's my responsibility, not yours. Let me deal with this."

"No," Scott says. "We both know this thing's gonna get out of control. That makes me responsible."

"Scott, please." Lexi walks around the desk with her expression softening as she looks at the boys. "You are a teenager. Life and death—these people are not your responsibility. I'm the adult here. You have to be able to delegate."

Scott sighs. "I can't." He admits.

Lexi shuts her eyes for a moment before she says, "Fine. I'll go with you to the ice rink. Stiles, call us if he's not at home." She gathers her bag and throws it over her shoulder as she stands. "I'm driving. We are doing this, and we better do it fast or else Boyd is doomed."

The two boys nod, following her out of the classroom. After splitting up, Scott frowns as he slips into Lexi's car. "Isn't this Derek's?" He asks.
