Sitting alone in her classroom, Lexi glances down at her phone as it buzzes. With a roll of her eyes, she quickly types back a text before she hears hesitant footsteps enter her room.

Scott, Stiles, and Derek all watch as Isaac knocks on the door. "Ms. Adams?" He calls as he leans against the threshold. His right hand twists against his bag's strap as he sends her a shy smile. "Can we talk?"

"Isaac, of course," she replies, motioning for him to come in. He closes the door behind him; Lexi's smile drops. "To what do I owe the pleasure? Anything I can help you with?"

"Yeah, actually." Dropping a stack of papers on her desk, he presses both hands against the surface. "You see, I've been doing some research."

Lexi's eyes flicker down to the first article: Unknown creature found throughout history. She picks it up only to find another similar one below: Evidence of serial killer during the Black Death. "I see."

"There's something I can't quite figure out." Isaac takes off a few articles before showing Lexi one that makes her eyes widen. "This man can be found in pictures dating back, well, one-hundred-fifty years."

Gingerly taking the photograph, Lexi stares at Klaus' face as he laughs behind the New Orleans bar. "Strange," she mutters. "Maybe it's not the same person."

"See, that's what I thought." Isaac clicks his tongue. "But look next to him."

She doesn't have to look to know who stands beside her brother. As always, it would be one of three people: Elijah, Rebekah, possibly Kol, depending on the year, or herself.

"That's you."

"What are you suggesting, Isaac?" Lexi asks. She lets the picture float down to her desk as she leans back in her chair, her hands folded over her stomach. "It can't possibly be me. I mean, do I look like I'm a hundred years old?"

"No, but you sounded like it last night."

In the blink of an eye, Lexi pints the boy to the blackboard with her hand around his throat. "I thought it was you," she says, her regular accent back. He does not look scared as she sighs. "And what am I to do now, Isaac?"

"Original Alpha, huh?"

"We don't always get the privilege of choosing what we are." She lets go of him as she clenches her jaw. "Have you told anyone?"

He does not reply.

With a frown, she shakes her head. "Why would you keep my secret? You just found out I have been lying to you—"

"Omitting certain truths," Isaac says softly. "That's not lying, now is it?"

"What do you want?" Lexi asks as her nostrils flare. "Are you going to blackmail me?"

"Blackmail?" Isaac grimaces. "No! Why would I do that? You saw that I did my research. The Original Alpha protects. You're protecting us. I don't see why Derek needs to know that."

She narrows her eyes. "So you won't tell Derek?"

He shrugs. "He doesn't need to know. "

"He's your Alpha—"

"I think we both know you're my Alpha."

Lexi sinks onto her desk as her shoulders slump forward. "I haven't been an Alpha in years. Someone took it from me."

Isaac laughs. "You let someone take it?"

"I let Laura take it," Lexi replies with a grimace. "So, I guess Derek has it now. He's being a total idiot, but, what can I do? He cannot know about me. Nor can you." Raising her gaze to meet his, she says, "You will not remember what I am. You will not remember Nik from last night, either. You did all this research to prove to yourself that the Original Alpha is watching over you. Protecting you."
