Shivaay looked up when he heard the bathroom door close. "You okay?"

Anika sighed looking at him irked. She opened her mouth to say something but she closed it not finding the words to say. She moved towards the couch and sat there. Shivaay got up at once and moved towards the couch. "Anika, you...take the bed."

Anika looked up to see him. "Daadi isn't here. I won't tell her anything. Be yourself."

Shivaay's vein at the temple began pulsating like it did when his anger grew. "I am being myself. Anika, I ..I want to know...."

Anika shifted in her seat and looked at him. "Why I did what?" She asked. He nodded. "Why must I owe an explanation to you?"

"Because you bloody risked your life for me. A little left or right and the bullet could have gone right through you. Do you understand how messed up that could be? Anything could have happened Anika. Anything." He exclaimed agitated.

"Ahh, so you're unhappy. Now, I get it. It would have been an easier way to get rid off me, right? No need for divorce, papers and drama." She smiled.

"Shut up Anika. Just shut the hell up. I would never want that." He blurted angrily and the next thing Anika knew was his arms were around her. He was hugging her. It was easier to deal with him when he was distant. Not when he was close. Certainly, not this close. She could feel his restlessness as his hands rubbed her back. His hold was strong giving away the fact that he wasn't lying. Anika remained frozen, didn't move an inch. What should she understand from his concern? The man who had been threatening her until yesterday was now... hugging her? Her hands stayed by her side.

Shivaay needed to hug her. To make himself one with the fact that she was okay. She was with him. How could she even think that he'd want her gone forever? The Anika he knew wouldn't. She was someone else. Daksh's words came into his mind.

"Come on, Shivaay. Sometimes we think we know a person well but the truth is that we actually don't. Happens all the time. Maybe you just didn't know her that well. Anyway everyone keeps masks. We all are different for different people. Who better than you would understand that, right?"

Shivaay pulled away realizing that he had lost control over his emotions in the moment. He glanced at Anika and then looked away. It wasn't the same. Nothing was same. He rubbed the back of his neck, muttering, "Sleep, you need to rest."

Anika stared at him. Her own emotions churning inside her. A part of her pitied herself for still trying to figure him out. While another small part mocked her for being so stupid. And then that small dark piece, which lay in a corner somewhere melting in the fire of hurt. There was a lot going inside her.

Why did she still care for him? Care for him more than her own life! She justified saying that if it were anyone else in place of Shivaay she'd have done the same. Would she really have? Maybe. But that wasn't of importance herein.

The important question was, why did her heart stop beating that very second when she saw the red target dot light on him? Why did her whole life come to a standstill. Why were there tears in her eyes? Why was there a fear in her heart, the fear of losing him forever? She didn't even have him, in the first place to be able to lose him.
