It took a bit before I could compose myself enough to create full sentences without having to take a second so we just laid there while Shiloh was gently rubbing my back and I was ruining her sheets with my tears. Shiloh was patient with me and she waited until I had calmed down a bit before pressing the issue.
"What happened Noah?" She asked as I continued to just breathe.
"I did something I promised multiple people I would never do again."
"What was it."
I paused because I didn't want Shiloh to be repulsed by my actions like my mom was. Shiloh wasn't having my silence and brought up a very good point."Carter I can't help you if you don't tell me what you did."
I sighed and decided I probably needed to tell her what I had done.
"I beat up the guy who gave you a concussion." I hung my head in shame.
Shiloh then did something I never expected.
"You did?" She asked in wonderment.
I looked up and she looked excited.
"You aren't mad?"
"Why would I be mad at you Carter? That bastard had it coming for him. Freaking putting me in the hospital. Did you know they had to shave my head to give me brain surgery? I'm kind of pissed about that." Shiloh rolled her eyes.
"I just thought that you would have a whole 'holier than thou art' moment and tell me that I shouldn't have beat him up."
"And why would I do that? I'm not a saint you know, I do get mad." Shiloh pointed out.
Then it hit me what Shiloh had said earlier.
"Wait they shaved your head?" I asked.
"Yeah! I am kind of mad about it." Shiloh huffed.
I looked up at her head and I was surprised I didn't notice it before but Shiloh didn't have any hair. I guess I didn't notice because of the bandages but still it was a bit odd. Shiloh laughed and I laughed too. It wasn't very funny but the way Shiloh had reacted to it was quite hilarious.
"Have you seen it yet?" I asked her.
"Are you kidding, that was the first thing I did when I woke up. I knew I had brain surgery but for some small reason I thought I still had my hair. As it turns out I was wrong and I had a minor freak out about it." Shiloh giggled.
"I'm sure it will be fine." I looked back up at her.
Shiloh snorted.
"Fine? As if I didn't get bullied enough as is, now that I'm bald I don't know what to expect."
"Well for the first few days people will probably ask to pet your head."
Shiloh looked at me for a few split seconds before breaking composure and giggling.
"Can I pet your head?" I asked her.
Shiloh was trying to stop giggling and nodded.
"Okay so you broke your promise to not beat up anyone else but that didn't explain why you showed up to my door with tears running down your face Noah."
I sighed.
"Today's been kind of an off day for me." I answered.
"Well then, start at the beginning."
I hesitated for a moment because I didn't really want to tell Shiloh about my encounter with Jessica.
"Confess your sins to me Carter, I pinky promise I won't tell." She stuck out her pinky.
