No Deed Goes Unpunished

When school was over I didn't do anything to Shiloh, however I did something for her. I did something I hadn't done in months. I openly spoke with Jessica. When I found her she was surrounded by the posers she called her friends. She probably needs them because how else would she get reassurance that she wasn't a terrible person.

"Jessica, I need to talk to you."

Jessica turned to me and smiled flirtatiously. She batted her eyelashes a few times. She then turned to her clones and whispered something in her ear. The girl giggled.

"What do you want Carter?" Jessica was trying to look as bored as possible but I could tell that she was intrigued.

"I need to talk to you in private."

Jessica looked a little surprised but then sent a reassuring wink at her friend. Her friend giggled. The girl never stopped giggling.

"Can you come with me?" I asked her.

Jessica had a sneaking smile creep to her face. When I began walking she fell into line with my steps. I led her behind the school where there was no one there however I looked around just to be sure. When I stopped turning Jessica kissed me. I froze and panicked slightly. I didn't expect that and wasn't sure what to do. Everything about the kiss seemed so familiar and welcoming that I began remembering our relationship. I didn't remember the downs but how amazing it was.

Staying up until three in the morning, not caring about the world and discussing the things that make the world go round. Sneaking out to go lay under the stars. Sly smiles during class. Having her in my arms. Or her laying against my chest as we had no cares in the world. It made me miss her. Well it made me miss the old her. Back when we were first dating she was really cool.

I missed her and so I didn't pull away. I kissed her back for a split second but then remembered where these lips have been. My mind did a complete 180 and now I was thinking of Jessica kissing Chris. Then it really hit me. Jessica had cheated on me and I had caught her near the end of our relationship but for how long exactly had she been cheating on me? I pushed her away.

Jessica stared up at me in shock. She looked at me as if she couldn't believe I had just did that. I honestly couldn't either. After a really awkward silence Jessica pursed her lips and began talking again.

"I assume I had misread your intentions."

"You cheated on me Jes, why would I want to get back together with you."

"I thought you had forgiven me." Jessica pouted.

"I have forgiven you Jessica but-"

Jessica smiles and puts her arms around me once again.

"But I haven't forgotten what you have done to me. You violated my trust and refused to honor my wishes."

"Carter stop talking like an old man."

"I can talk like an old man if I want to but that is besides the point. The real reason I needed to talk to you is to discuss a note I had found in Shiloh's locker."

"What note?"

I dug the note out of my pocket and handed it to Jessica. Jessica took the note from my hand and read it. I studied her face for any emotions but she was devoid of anything.

"That's not mine." Jessica threw the note back at me.

"Are you sure because I only have one other ex-girlfriend and she is in a happy relationship with her girlfriend." I questioned.

"Must be a copycat."

"Why would anyone pretend to be you and put a note in Shiloh's locker?" I asked.
