When Rylie and I got back to school there was only ten minutes left in our period before lunch and neither Rylie nor I wanted to go back to our classes so we went into the library. When in the library I pulled Expedition from where I had stashed it this morning and began reading.
"Expedition huh?" Rylie asked as she sat down next to me.
"Why is everyone shocked I know how to read." I rolled my eyes.
"No I'm not shocked you know how to read you little bookworm, I just didn't peg you as a Science Fiction kind of guy."
I laughed and put down the book.
"I honestly didn't think so either but, I like this book."
"I did too."
"You've read it?"
"Of course! Who could miss the adventures of Lorey and Eli. I loved the series back in my Freshman year."
Riley moved her seat from across from me to right next to me.
"What part are you on?" Riley asks as she leans across to see my book.
"Lorey just landed the ship." I answered as I buried my nose into the book.
"That was one of my favorite parts of the book. It was before everything got super depressed."
"Excuse me, no spoilers!" I lightly shoved her.
"How in the world have you not known the entire story by now! They have made several movies and spinoffs of this book."
"I honestly don't know." I answered.
Then the bell rang and Riley got up.
"Are you going to check out your book, bookworm?" Rylie asked as I put down the book.
"No"
"What, can't have your friends knowing you read?"
"Not entirely."
When we get out side of the library Rylie sticks out her hand.
"This is where we part ways Mr Carter. I hope you find happiness in this trying time you are going through." Riley shakes my hand.
I wish I could say that Riley wasn't always like this but she was a goofball.
Riley ran to go catch up with her cheer squad and smiled and began chatting with them. Riley was an interesting thing. If you haven't met her she seems really intimidating and mean but she isn't popular because she is mean. She is popular because she is one of the nicest people on the cheer squad. And also because she is drop dead gorgeous, but more because she is really nice.
She is a really loving person. You can see it in the way she looks at Madison. The way her eyes light up when she sees her.
I walked into the lunch room and saw Shiloh standing against a wall holding an apple.
"Hey Shiloh, where's the rest of your lunch?" I asked as I walked up to her.
Shiloh looked at me and looked down.
"Seriously, what happened to it?"
Shiloh didn't say anything but she grabbed my hand and walked while trying to keep her head down. We didn't walk into the lunch room but near the bathrooms next to them. She took me into a janitor's closet.
"Shiloh are you okay?" I asked her.
"I don't know if I can do this." Shiloh ran her fingers through her hair.
