I woke up today with a stomach-ache. When I walked downstairs there was this odd tension in my house. My mom was sitting at the dining room table looking absolutely miserable. Next to her she had three empty diet coke cans and it appeared like she had been up all night. Next to her, her cellphone laid on the table vibrating.
"Who's calling mom?" I asked her as I sat next to her at the table.
"The owner of the house." My mom sighed.
"Are you going to answer?"
"Eventually. I just don't want to face the inevitable right now." My mom sighed.
"What is inevitable?"
"The fact that we will have to move Noah."
"Where would we go?"
"I don't know. Oregon, maybe? I found some pretty great prices up there for a house that is actually larger than this one,"
"But Oregon is so far away." I protested.
"It's also cheap Noah." My mom patted my back.
I know it sounds really childish but I pouted. I sat at the table and pouted for a while. Before long it was nearly time to go to school so I quickly got up and grabbed an apple before going to school.
I didn't really want to tell any of my friends right now. I knew I would have to eventually but today didn't feel like that kind of day. When I got to school Shiloh, Tanner, Trevor, Noah and Evie were sitting in our little corner in the courtyard.
Shiloh, Evie and Noah were holding a little conversation and Tanner and Trevor were aggressively arguing in whispers.
I stared at them as I sat down next to Shiloh. Shiloh turned to me and smiled.
"What's up Carter? I thought you were going to be a no show today." Evie asked.
"A no show?"
"Never mind." Evie sighed.
Tanner and Trevor stopped arguing with themselves and finally turned to face the rest of us.
"Welcome back to the real world and not whatever world you guys were living in." Shiloh laughed sarcastically.
Tanner looked over to Trevor and smiled.
"Guys we have something to tell you." Trevor reached over and took Tanner's hand.
"Woah, that's pretty g-" Noah started.
"Gay? That's the point, Noah my dear friend."
"Wait what?" Noah was left pretty confused.
"This is my boyfriend, Trevor." Tanner smiled at Trevor and Trevor smiled back.
"You two are dating?!" Payton exclaimed as she approached the table with her own boyfriend in tow.
"Yep." Tanner popped the p.
"Well, I can honestly say I didn't see that coming." Shiloh looked at the ground.
"I did, they argued too much to not be a couple." Evie laughed.
"We don't argue a lot!" Trevor tried to defend himself.
"Yes, you do." We all agreed.
"Fine, that was pretty unanimous." Tanner sighed.
"How long have you two been dating?" Dylan asked.
"Um, we started dating about two months ago, I think. It was around the time of our movie night at Shiloh's house."
"I knew you were sleeping together on purpose! I called it, I called it, didn't I Shiloh?" I exclaimed.
