Luke walked to Ben's room. He was too scared of Ben to risk his darkness reigning the galaxy. With his saber in his hand, he entered his room. Luke looked at the sleeping young boy. He lit his saber. This was the perfect time to prevent the pain he had seen the night before.
But as he raised his saber to strike his nephew, he remembered what his daughter had said earlier that day; "It led to catastrophe. You can't do it." He reached for the button to turn off his lightsaber.
He realized his wrongings too late. When he clicked the button to his saber, he saw a pained boy. A boy who's fate hadn't been decided yet, but was now, thanks to him. Ben reached up to pull down the ceiling as he grabbed his saber in defense.
All that was heard before the ceiling fell was Luke's cries for Ben to stop.
Ben ran to his cousin's room. He entered slowly. He saw her peacefully asleep. He wished he was in the same state. He shook her slightly until she was awake.
"Ben? What are you doing? What time is it?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. "Am I late?!" She said, sitting up quickly. He grabbed her shoulder as her father had earlier.
"No," He laughed. She looked at him smiling. For some reason, she couldn't stop looking at him smiling. She had a longing to see it for as long as she could. She didn't know why. It was as if it would be the last time she saw his smile. "I love you." He said, his smile fading. A tear fell from his cheek, but she didn't see it. Her eyes were still foggy from sleep.
"I love you too, Ben. What's wrong?" She asked, standing up. She could tell he was hurting, but there was a hint of numbness.
"Nothing. Just go back to bed. I love you so much Padme." He hugged her, knowing it might be the last time he did. She, on the other hand, did not.
"Ben, please tell me what's going on?" She said, her heart sinking into her stomach. His pain started to bleed into her heart.
"I'm leaving. I'm sorry." He paused. "I love you Padme."
"Ben?" And with that, he left her in her room. She sat down when the thick door closed, trying to understand why she felt such sadness. Suddenly, she realized something. She felt something. Pain. Death. Agony. Everything she had felt in her dream. She realized that might have been the last time she would see her cousin.
When Luke managed to escape the rubble of the room, he saw exactly what he feared most. He saw flames engulfing the building in front of him The temple was on fire, there was so much pain, he remembered. He felt for anyone who was hurt in the temple. All he felt was pain and death, something his daughter had warned. So much darkness, he finally remembered. Everything his daughter had foreseen had come to pass. And it was his fault.
His daughter. He ran to her quarters with Artoo on his heels. He saw her door slightly open. He felt his nephew's darkness fresh from her room. He turned to the cliff and saw a dark ship taking off and leaving the atmosphere. He wouldn't, he thought. He wouldn't hurt her, he tried to convince himself. He pushed through her door. A flood of relief took over his body as he saw his daughter sitting on her bed, staring at the ground. His heart dropped again when he felt the darkness in his daughter as well. She looked up at him with a tear in her eye.
"Dad?" Was all she could say before he ran to her and gave her his last hug. He hated to do it, but he needed to isolate himself. He couldn't bear to train any other Jedi. He was too dangerous. He needed to leave his daughter with his sister, with the resistance, where she could become a pilot, never use the force again, just like he wouldn't.
"I'm sorry. We need to go, Padme."
"He was here. Ben." She muttered.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked, fearing what response might escape her mouth.
"He came to say goodbye. That he loves me." Her face and voice stayed blank, but she turned her head to her father. "I was right." Artoo made a sad sound, which only made the situation more solemn.
"I'm sorry, I remembered, but I was too late," He said, referring to her dream and warning. "Padme, we are going to see Leia." He stood up and helped his daughter leave.
They walked down to his x-wing and got inside. Artoo boarded the back and Padme squeezed into the small seat behind her father.
They were silent the entire trip to D'Qar. Neither one could form any thoughts except sadness. They had lost the best of them. Their family. Padme's cousin, her best friend had turned.

When they arrived at the planet, Luke landed at the end of the base. He didn't want his sister to know he was there until he was gone. If she tried to convince him to stay, it would only make the situation worse.
"Padme, you need to explain what happened to us. To Ben. Even what I did. She deserves to know." She nodded at her father's words. "I love you Padme." Luke ejected Artoo and boarded his plane again, taking off before anyone noticed.
"Love you too, Dad."
And she was alone.
She walked Artoo to the storage after he told her he needed to charge.
He didn't wake from that charge for a long, long time.
