Chapter 12

"No it can't be," Rey said. With the lights off, they walked to the cockpit to see what was about to happen. Rey sat down in the seats and looked at the control panels.

"Someone's locked onto us, all controls are overridden," She uttered. Finn stepped onto the chair and grabbed Rey's head for support. She waved at his hand.

"Get off. Get off!" She pulled his hand off. "See anything?"

"Oh no," His face dropped, followed by his body into the chair. He was struck with horror. "It's the First Order."

Padme's stomach dropped. They couldn't go back. And this time, they had the map to her father. If they got the map, her father would surely be dead. Without the force, he would be toast against the universal power that was the First Order.

"What do we do, there must be something!" Rey shouted. The three thought as best they could, but they were panicking. Finn turned to Rey.

"You said poisonous gas!" He blurted. Padme caught on.

"Yeah, but I fixed that," She stammered. Padme looked at Finn, then at Rey.

"Can you unfix it?" She asked. Finn looked at her, impressed. Rey's eyes bulged and they all ran to the pipes. Scurrying down the hall, they finally reached where the leakage was. They grabbed the gas masks on their way and put them on. Padme climbed in first, then Finn followed.

"C'mon BB-8," Padme said. Padme watched Finn grab the droid, knowing he weighed a ton. He came crashing down as soon as he held the droid, crashing down right on Padme. BB-8 landed right next to them. Padme fell to her back, Finn on his hands and knees. She looked up to see him on top of her, his faces mere inches from hers. She couldn't help but laugh. But soon, Padme started to panic, realizing she hadn't seen her droid yet. "Wait," She shot up out from under Finn. Startled, he stood up with her. Padme's head popped up through the hole. "Where's BB-7?" She asked. She quickly hopped out of the manhole and looked down at the orange droid. "Did you see her?" He beeped in concern.

"Wait, Padme, we need to hide! They'll be here any second!" She grabbed Padme's arm, turning her head.

"I have to find my droid. You two hide, I have my mask," She put it on and gave a thumbs up. Rey rolled her eyes but insisted.

"Padme, please. If the First Order finds you, they'll kill-" Padme stopped her friend from speaking any more.

"Someone's coming. Hide, I'll find a way to you guys," Finn looked at her with fear. "I promise," She told the two. She left the two to hide in the hole while she looked for her droid.

"BB-7?" She looked through the halls of the falcon, saying her droid's name every once in a while. Suddenly, she heard something roll through the halls. "BB-7?" She asked, whispering in case it was a First Order BB unit. But, fortunately, it wasn't. "Sev!" Where were you? We need to hide, now!" The little droid stopped Padme in her tracks.

"[I miss him,]" She said, referring to Poe. Even though Padme hadn't gotten to know Poe well until the night before their mission, BB-7 and BB-8 would hang out all the time, and with Poe never leaving his droid, BB-7 knew Poe very well. Padme turned to her droid and knelt down.

"I do too, Sev. I do too. But if we don't hide, he will have died for nothing," She felt a tear swell in her eye, but the moment was rudely interrupted when the two heard a door de-pressurize. Padme ran to see who entered the ship. Due to the lack of explosives, she didn't think it was the First Order after all.

Padme and BB-7 snuck to the front of the ship. They heard a faint voice, one she remembered from somewhere.

"Chewie, we're home," A man said. Padme froze. Chewie, she knew who they were now. BB-7 turned to Padme, knowing who had taken control of the ship as well. Padme hid behind a corner, preparing herself to see the man who left her and her aunt to smuggle anything and everything they wanted. A fire burned in her stomach, she couldn't understand why he left them in the dust, she never did. And she never thought she would get to ask. She peeked around the corner when she heard a grate being lifted up. She knew her friends weren't in danger, but they didn't. And Padme still couldn't move. After all these years, Han was back.

"Where are the others? Where's the pilot?" She heard him ask her friends. Where were you?! She thought. Where were you when we had to go on?

"I'm the pilot," She heard Rey stammer.

"You?" Han questioned. How could you? One more thought crossed her mind, her face falling with her heart. Did you know?

Chewie didn't believe them, and he voiced that. "No, it's true, we're the only ones on board," Padme realized they couldn't lie anymore. They would run out of excuses soon, she had to show herself. BB-7 bumped her leg.

"Just one second. We have to wait for the right time," Padme schemed.

"You can understand that thing?" Finn asked. Padme couldn't help but chuckle a little to herself.

"And "that thing" can understand you too, so watch it," Padme closed her eyes. She had to calm down. She could feel anger flowing through her veins, anger that was turning to hate. And hate was the path to the dark side.

"Come on outta there," Han said. Padme heard rustling come from the hole, then turned her head around the corner in time to see her friends emerge from the pipes. "Where'd you get this ship?" Han asked.

"Niima Outpost," Rey informed.

"Jakku? That junkyard?"

"Thank you! Junkyard!" Finn said, relieved someone agreed with him.

"Told you we should've double-checked the Western Reaches!" He scolded his wookie friend. "Who had it, Ducain?" He asked.

"I stole it from Unkar Plutt. He stole it from the Irving Boys, who stole it from Ducain," She rambled.

"Who stole it from me! Well, you tell him Han Solo just stole back the Millennium Falcon for good," Han said. Padme heard him walk down the corridor. There was silence, and Padme thought her time to emerge might have come and gone. She turned to see Finn briefly look for her, but he turned back again when Rey spoke up.

"This is the Millennium Falcon? You're Han Solo?" She asked. You would be disappointed if you heard any more, Padme thought.

"Get it together, Skywalker. Calm down," Padme muttered to herself.

"I used to be," Han said. Damn right, she thought.

"Han Solo? The Rebellion General?" Finn inquired.

"No, the smuggler!" Rey blurted. Padme realized this was her time.

"Wasn't he a war hero?" Finn asked to someone. Padme walked up behind them.

"Well I knew him as uncle Han," She said.
