Christian's POV

I was pretty much dazed out but with the last attempt, I stood up. With an almost blurred vision, I fired two rounds of bullets and a moment later was hit by the pain of getting shot. I saw Blaire coming in the way but by then I was already on the floor gripping my bullet injured shoulder as my body zoned out. My vision was blurry and my throat spat out nothing except blood. The last thing I saw before my vision went off was Blaire falling to the floor, lying beside me and gripping my hand tightly, entwining our fingers together. But all I could do was nothing because I was already out of the league.

The feeling of getting back into my own head seemed pretty awesome. My head was still hurting but I managed to open my eyes. My eyesight was getting clearer from blurred and faded and surroundings went sharper. With a one-eyed vision, I took in my left and right and could see uncle Rob waiting on the couch. I slightly turned my head to the reflection on the windowpane, revealing my other bandaged eye and several other bandages on the shoulder and arm.

Well, if you ask me then I looked horrible in that oxygen mask.

I tried to make light gestures with my channelled hand and silently hoped my uncle would notice them as I needed to see him and I wasn't getting enough strength to speak up yet. And my hope didn't go in vain as he came over quickly to my side and pressed the red button to call the doctor. I took a little more time to gather whatever strength and energy I could because I wanted to speak up and I knew that I need to.

"Sunshine. Wh-e-re--," I paused.

"Where's my sun-shine? I - want to me-- her," my words struggled through the oxygen mask to get its voice out but was immensely entwined in the process.

"Calm down, son," uncle spoke up, "she is in critical condition as she underwent a very critical surgery."

"But - I...sunshine. I - want -,"

"Calm down, Mr Woods. No exertion please," I could see the doctors walk in.

Both of them along with the nurse fidgeted with medicines, my channels and injected god knows what in those long tubes.

"Doctor, I want - to - meet Blaire,"

"I want...," I could feel myself out of breath and hear the continuous beeping of some machine.

The doctor went on checking it and glanced between me and the tracker several times.

"All right, Mr Woods," he said, "we'll allow you."

I was allowed to meet Blaire. Some unknown kind of pleasure hit me and suddenly energised me. My bed was wheeled to her cabin. A pretty large room, very similar to mine and full of sunshine. I could see the rays falling on her ivory cheeks.

My bed was set just beside hers. She was maybe just laying down with her eyes closed. Her hairs braided and white bandage went around her forehead. She looked beautiful and still so full of life. It was as if I was meeting her after ages. Her eyes weakly fluttered a few times and slightly opened after a few seconds. A moment later Melly and Rob entered the cabin. Her eyes scanned everyone in the room and then finally landed on me. Her lips stretched a little as she gave me a weak yet beautiful smile. I extended my hand towards her and held it for a second.

"I love you," I whispered and it was barely audible.

I felt how cold her hands were and how the nagging beep irritated me and my continuously throbbing head.

"I love you too," a meek reply came after a lot of struggle as her voice came out of that mask just like a breath.

My eyes came to a standstill on her but then pain shot up in the back of my head. I felt my vision getting faded and a little dark with each passing second but I focused on her. Her eyes fluttered and then peacefully laid close as if very tired and finally exhausted. Her icy cold hand slipped from mine as if they had no wish of holding onto it anymore. I tried to grab it once again but as if it went far, quite out of reach.

My vision was blurry by then. My ears got more sensitive to that beep going louder with each passing nanosecond. I could see people in white uniforms coming in and there was a lot of rush. The darkness increased and suddenly someone switched off lights in my head.

It was a total blackout. My mind was floating in the air. I was lost in a huge and peaceful black hole.
