BLAIRE's POV

I stood in a room filled with stacks of boxes and crates. There were around four men excluding Christian. My eyes roamed around the area but James wasn't there. Did he see me coming and changed the way? Did I get lost in the dark? My mind processed each of it while the man whom I happen to know Christopher aimed a gun at me. Automatically, I stepped back.

“Woah, Woah!” Christian said as he raised a hand and put one behind himself.

“Put that gun down right away, Christoph,” there was an order in his voice.

I stood there defenceless in my white angel costume swapping my eyes between two brothers who held pistols at each other.

“Isn't that your pretty blonde, little brother?” Christopher asked, advancing towards me.

“Put that damn gun down or else I call the sheriff right away,” Chris threatened.

“Come with me,” he ordered as he grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of the place, still aiming the gun at Christopher.

His face screamed relaxation once we were out of the place.

“What the hell were you doing in there?” he yelled.

“You could get killed. You could get us killed. Do you get it?” he continued screaming.

“I,” I stammered, “I...uh...I was following James,”

“There wasn't any James in there and you saw it yourself,”

“His car was parked right here,” I pointed out at a vacant spot.

“Get in the car.”

I didn't move. My feet were frozen to the ground.

“Get in the car,” he yelled again and I flinched.

We sat in the car and drove out towards schools. I should be going home that day. I glanced at Christian and decided it was best to stay put right now. There was a lot of unspoken tension in the air.

“Hey,” I whispered as I placed my hand on his and lightly caressed it.

He gave me a soft yet I-would-kill-you look and then focused back on the road.

“I trust you, okay?” he said softly.

“Okay,” I whispered back.

“I just...” he exhaled loudly.

“You don't need to explain, I know. You were frightened, tensed and super duper kind of concerned for me.”

“Certainly not a joke, sunshine,” he said with a tone of embarrassment.

“By the way, what were you doing there?” I asked.

“Unfinished business, sunshine. I need to find out who gave that drugs,” he paused, “a boy died. He freaking died of overdose...” he trailed off.

“Don't overthink. I'll clear you out,” I looked into his eyes.

“I have my ways,” I said before he could ask anything else.

We took the luggage and drove out, it was a peaceful night. There was a touch of Halloween all over. It felt like the ride ended too early as he screeched before my house. We got out of the car and walked to the door as he carried my stuff.

“Hey, I'm sorry,” he said as he cupped my cheeks. His thumb brushing against my cheekbone while he looked down at me.

“For screaming at me? You're forgiven,” I said cheerfully.
