Reminiscence

Chapter 38

Avril's Pov- We arrive to Australia and immediately begin hurrying to finish unpacking so we can enjoy the wonderful serene place. We finally head out to the beach laughing and carrying on. We get lot's of head turns and looks our way. I step out in a yellow one piece while Kolin steps out in swimming trunks. After many hours of enjoying the nice beach weather we slap on some nice casual wear and step out to one of the many clubs and live it up the fullest. Life as a honeymooner wasn't so bad especially as a Fassbender.

Following the honeymoon, I made a special trip out to Maine. I parked and walked among the grass as a breeze crept through the air. I twisted the small ring on the 4th finger of my right hand. I never thought I would see the day I would part from it let alone allow myself to part from it.

I knew the area well and took me many months to will my presence into the known area and finally as I edge closer my guts turn not in a bad way, but in a butterfly nervous way, the excitement you have a reunion with someone special.

I got closer up on the hill and stopped there by the weeping willow layed a headstone with a date that would be inked my not just my mind, but my soul. November 16th. I stopped there, By Derrick's headstone I knelt down. "I wish you could have seen me on my special day...." I feel a sting to my eyes no matter how much time goes it never felt right. It still hurt.

I kissed the headstone and finally removed the promise ring Derrick got me all those years ago and there I placed it on top of his headstone.

"I know you wouldn't want to see me in such a state, but I cannot help it you made such an impact on my life that I simply can not cast onward for it must stay here. I believe God places us in certain places and situations for a reason, sometimes not ment to be understood by us until it is our calling and sometimes not all."

I sit there and wipe my eyes. "I still don't understand why your life was taken so quick and young, but God has plans for us and the one's who go to heaven get the most grander plan of all."

I sit there for a while in silence. "I kept my promise." I kiss over his name and stood up. "We must part ways now, go take our different fates now, but until we meet again. I love you."
