Hayes' P.O.V

Melanie was acting weird again, she left the mall early as soon as she got some text message, so I just invited Haley to meet me here.

"Hey Haley," I said while hugging her, once she came.

"Hey Hayes," she said squeezing me tighter.

Once we were done hugging we Walked to the food court. We sat done at a table and started talking. I start to tell Haley about Melanie and she thinks something might be going on.

"Hayes I'm not sure. You know maybe her mom is just been sick or she's, I'm sorry to say it, but, she could be cheating on you."

She can't be cheating! Not Melanie, she would never cheat on me. But maybe she's right, I don't know this whole love thing is just stupid to me.

"So how's you brother, Nash?" she said as stuffed her mouth with the food she just got.

"Good I guess, I mean he's having a baby at sixteen." She just laughs a little.

How can anything get better in this life, my life is just so messed up right now I don't know how to explain it. I have to worry about Melanie and my whole family. I'm fourteen, can't I get a break?

"What about you? How is your life going?" I asked.

"Well my sister is going to college so I get her room, and I got you as my best friend, so pretty good." She said and smiled. I smiled back at her.

I always loved how Haley was always so positive. I know I'm with Melanie and I like her a lot, but I don't know if she still has that spark when she sees me. And I just really like Mel, but I love Haley. I know I'm too chicken to tell her so I have to figure out how to stop loving her.

Looking into Haley's eyes, I just fall dead silent. I always do that when I look at her. I can't help it, she's just so pretty. "Hayes hello?" She laughs.

Suddenly I snap out of it."Sorry I was-"

"Looking at me, it's okay."

"Yeah...kinda."

"You know Hayes, if you have something to tell me you can," oh great maybe she knows I love her! It will probably ruin things, I'm such a idiot in relationships.

"Umm...no there's nothing. It's fine," I stupidly say. She just nods her head at me and smiles.

It was silent for a moment. I looked back at Haley to see that she was looking at me. We were sitting really close to each other, but I didn't mind. All of a sudden I found myself leaning in. And I could see Haley doing the same thing. Right when I was about to kiss her, I stopped. This should not be happening. I sighed and turned my head. I wanted to kiss her so badly, but I couldn't.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking," I said.

"Oh, no it's.. it's okay," she said. I could tell by the way she said it, that it was not okay. She seemed sad, like she wanted to kiss me.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I think." I gave a look and she sighed,"I have to tell you something Hayes."

"Yeah? what is it?"

"I thin-"

My phone cut her off. I took my phone out, and saw that Nash had texted me. I sighed and read the message.

"I'm sorry Haley, but I have to go. Nash is waiting for me." I said and put my phone away.

"That's okay."
