Song: Houdini by Foster The People

April 29

The group wake in the local police station. Ben and Beverly were the first to be taken back for questioning, seeing as they shouldn't have anything to do with this mess. Bill was called back awhile ago, but he's yet to return. Now they just wait.

Ben braids Beverly's short hair to the best of his ability. It helps pass the time. "What do you think will happen to us?"

Richie, Eddie, Stanley, and Mike all look up at the sudden noise. They're in a holding cell across from the two. Apparently they wanted to separate the patients from the others.

"Jail time." Mike is currently laying on the cold hard floor.

Ben's eyes squint at this. "You can't be serious."

Richie runs his hands across the bars. "What did you think would happen? We killed people. You can't just run away from that."

Soon Bill is walking back with an officer by his side. He enters the cell with Beverly and Ben and immediately lays down from exhaustion. Now the officer turns to the other cell and groans.

"Stanley Uris. No funny business." He opens the door and the laughing boy struts out.

"Funny? I'm a serious man, sir." He giggles again.

Richie watches him go with a sad smile and then forces himself to get up off the ground and take a seat next to Eddie. Eddie's head falls on Richie's shoulder in an instant. "Maybe I shouldn't have gotten involved. I was growing quite fond of hell."

"You'd been there less than twenty four hours." Richie shakes his head.

"This is crazy. There has to be some kind of way out." Ben slams a hand to the ground, cracking the concrete underneath him. He doesn't have long to think about the sudden strength before there's an ear piercing scream.

The entire group flinch and holds their ears, begging for the noise to end. Which it eventually does. But that's not the only thing to happen. The entire building shook under their feet. Things seemed to explode from down the hall.

Everyone is on their feet in no time, only to see a frazzled Stanley Uris walking back to them. He smiles cheerfully. "What did I miss?"

"Stanley look out!" Richie yells after seeing an officer coming up behind his friend.

Stanley turns before opening his mouth and letting go. That same scream is back and the group watches as the officer lifts from the ground and slams into the wall. Everyone remains quiet. What do you do after a situation like that?

Eddie laughs. "What is it you always say?" The boy peeks up at Richie.

"Curious." His eyebrows furrow in confusion.

Stanley backs away from the man who is definitely dead. His eyes roam the area nervously, waiting for a sign. Any sign. What's he to do? Things like this are impossible.

"I-I just-..." Stanley travels off, his mind going far far away.

Richie, Eddie, and Mike hardly seem phased. Beverly just looks on with wide eyes. Ben and Bill can hardly fathom what happened. This is the first time Stanley hasn't been running his mouth.

"Stanley." Richie tries his best to pull the boy out of whatever mindset he's in.

Stanley's ears are ringing. He can't focus. The boy just wants to scream. But he can't. He doesn't.

"Stan!"

Finally the boy's eyes lift up and meet with the other's. He gives a small smile and laughs. "What? Is there something the matter?"

Everyone, except Stanley, looks to the dead body and then back to him. He's still smiling. "Let me find the keys!" The boy turns around, coming face to face with another man. Stan groans. "God dammit. Why do you guys have to ruin the fun? Where do you even keep coming from?"

The man goes to grab Stanley, but Richie shouts. "Stop!"

The man stops.

"Get away from him!"

The man takes several steps away.

Everyone's eyes widen. They wonder why he'd do what Richie says. Perhaps he's a little mental himself.

Unfortunately it doesn't last long and soon he's snapped out of it and going back to work. His hand grabs for his gun, and again Richie intercepts. "Don't grab that gun!"

The man puts his hands away.

"Hand the gun to me."

The man puts the gun right in Richie's grasp.

Richie looks around with wide eyes and hums. "Okay, uh, give me the keys."

The man gives him the keys.

Quickly Richie unlocks the door and out steps the three of them. Richie, gun in his hand, points it at the man. He frowns momentarily before laughing again. "I'm really sorry about this."

There's a loud bang and then a drop of the body. This makes Richie squeal with delight. "I've never killed anyone before." He looks quite proud of himself.

Everyone remains quiet while he opens the other cell door. Then he looks around and notices all the eyes on him. "What?"

"How'd you do that?" Eddie wonders.

"I don't know. I just told him and he did." Richie's not really thinking about the logical side of things. He doesn't really care.

"And what about y-you?" Bill eyes Stanley with fearful eyes.

"I-I," he sighs, "I don't know." He shrugs.

"Surely someone knows something?" Beverly speaks, but no one answers.

Instead they stare around, waiting for any possible clues. They need some kind of sign. But one never comes. They're lost. Hopeless. Confused.

"We need to burn this place to the ground." She speaks again.

"Why would we do that?" Mike questions, stepping closer to the rest of them.

Ben speaks too. "It's simple, isn't it? No one can know we were here."

"We should g-grab our things and g-get going." Bill walks on without them, in search for his belongings.

"And what things are you referring to?" The girl's voice is light.

"I know they t-took my gun."

"There are others. We need to go." Mike tries to reason.

"It won't take long!" Bill assures, already heading off.

Stanley speaks now. "He won't find anything back there."

Beverly stands next to him. "And why is that?"

Stanley cracks a smile. "Everything down that end is gone."
