Song: Welcome to Paradise by Green Day
May 1
Beverly is currently digging into her stack of blueberry pancakes. She didn't think it would happen after the incident, but Ben insisted they still go. Everyone seemed to shrug and go along with it. There's no point in really hiding now. It's only a matter of time before people know they're out there. Might as well have their fun while they can.
It seems that some already recognize a few of them. Adults send weary glances their way. They don't mind. It's not as if they can really do anything.
"I think we should go to the mall." Beverly speaks up after swallowing her last bite.
Bill looks up with horror. "You're j-joking. In the city? That's a half hour from here. Where there's p-police. Besides we need to go shopping for our actual n-n-needs."
"So we split up. Half go to the mall. Half shopping." The girl shrugs.
Stanley's eyes spark. "Cool! Dibs on mall."
"Oh me too!" Eddie quickly raises his hand.
Bill interrupts. "No! There's no way we are splitting up. That n-never goes well. Besides I'm not leaving Stanley." He doesn't realize what he's said until he's said it.
Stanley simply smiles. "Don't worry, Bill. I'll be okay."
Bill shakes his head. "We go together. We can get the rest l-later tonight."
"Oh like we break in! I've always wanted to do that." Stanley grows excited.
Bill shrugs and goes along with it. "Sure."
Beverly wipes her face and pushes the plate to the side. "Ready?"
"Freddy!" Eddie yells before falling over the booth and making a run for it.
Richie scoots out and runs after the small boy. He's laughing hysterically while doing so. Eddie always makes him feel normal. Like pushing back and making a mess of things isn't crazy. It's not crazy. It's just fun.
Stanley takes Bill's hand before rushing out. Mike sighs before shrinking into a small mouse. He runs in between booths and so on until finally out the door. Ben and Beverly aren't far behind, but they're stopped far too quick. Soon a worker is between them and the door.
"Stop! You have to pay for that."
"We have no money." Ben tries to negotiate. Customers around watch with wide eyes.
"That's not my problem."
Beverly's eyes grow red. "Lady you might wanna step aside." Her smile is twisted.
The waitress takes notice of the red eyes and immediately scoots away and takes cover. Beverly smiles and skips out the door. Finally the group meet back up and pile in the van.
"Mall time?" Beverly claps.
"Oo!" Stanley smiles.
"It's already four thirty." Bill checks the clock.
"So? We get there at five and have all the time in the world." Stanley points at him and then at his own head.
"It'll close. We'll b-barely have the time."
"Are you seriously forgetting that we have powers?" Beverly rolls her eyes.
"If you won't take us I'll just make Mike turn into a giant dragon and travel on him." Eddie makes whooshing noises.
