Song: Club Foot by Kasabian
June 25
The group have their powers back, which only means they use them constantly. Each are connecting more and more with themselves everyday. It might be the fact that they are training hours and hours a day. As tiring as it is, it does help.
Not only have they been focusing on one themselves, but also each other. Each have been trying to power submerge since day one. Especially Stanley Barber, Emmitt Jones, and Mike Hanlon. The trio have been trying and trying, but yet to accomplish the task. It's difficult and quite draining. Still, the three refuse to give up.
Mike has tapped quite a bit into his power, which is much more than he once thought. Of course he's still able to turn into animals, as well as people. But the man is also able to change certain features about himself, such as nose or foot size. Really anything he can imagine. Which makes the other two boys that much more eager.
Charlie and Ally are sat beside the three, guiding them through the experience, but still nothing happens. However there is this slight buzz that reaches their skin, but never fully comes out. It only ever numbs the small group, which is at least a start. It's something compared to nothing at all. And the three will take it as progress.
Today feels different, though, and the numbness reaches throughout all of them. It's not so much a buzz and instead a slight burn. The heat courses through them, yet it doesn't hurt. Some might say it's almost natural. There's a tingling sensation too, which slides down their throats. It's nothing like they've ever felt before.
Each of them gasp and awe at the new feeling. They smile as it grips them whole. Now they know what Charlie meant about when you know, you know. Because they most definitely know.
Suddenly two forms change, though one stays the same. Emmitt seems to grow a bit taller, voice a bit deeper. Stanley looks even more identical to his brother. Turns out that practice pays off.
Unfortunately the trio's excitement is cut short as Bill and Stanley Uris stroll up, planting a seat beside the rest. The other members seem to gravitate in as well, sitting in a circle. Eddie is sat in between Richie's legs. Greta is sat in between Sydney's as well. The rest just sit normally, though Beverly has her head upon Ben's shoulder.
"There's something I've been k-keeping from you all, which I suppose isn't fair."
Everyone looks up, even the trio, much to their dismay. "Well let it out."
"I heard something in the lab. Something that could help us figure shit out once and for all. Then again m-maybe it won't."
"Get to the point, Denbrough." Greta's had enough bullshitting. She wants the truth.
"There are certain people here who have unknown elements in our system. They think it might be in all of us, which means they might begin testing soon. And who knows what they'll do to find out the truth."
"Who for sure has this element or whatever?" Syd grows eager.
"Stanley Uris, Stanley Barber, me, and a few others we don't know." Bill cuts it short, though Uris ends up smacking him. So he continues. "Including a Mark Novak."
Sydney seems about to burst at the name, things suddenly connecting. Ever since her first visit to the lab this place has been fishy. They told her something that hasn't been able to leave her mind, and this must be why. Not since her...
Not since her father. Mark Novak. He was here? Did he have powers too? Are there storms they don't even know about? "That's my dad. Our dad. Which can only mean-..."
"We have it too." Beverly speaks, though she doesn't think into it like Syd does. After all, she never knew her dad.
"Bill told me that we have an identical mark in our brains too. Supposedly everyone has some sort of mark. It must be the source of our powers."
"Well that's good, right? That we are finally finding out some things?" Stanley Barber looks unconvinced.
"Maybe. But I heard what they were saying and what they continue to say. These people won't stop at anything to find out why this is happening. Even if we end up dead. They will dissect us and tear us apart piece by piece. They're desperate for what we have. I think they are going to try and take it from us. We don't have to let them, though."
Bill ends, but Stanley picks up where he left off. "We can fight them off. We've been training. Imagine what we can accomplish if we power submerge. Especially with Emmitt's ability? I know it seems scary, but there's nothing we can't do together."
Charlie is immediately onboard, craving a normal life with Ally by her side. "I've heard talk of escape groups before. We aren't the only ones waiting for the right moment. I'm almost positive we could round some up."
"We'll have to be careful, though. Those who aren't get sent back and aren't seen again. Charlie is right, there are escape groups. But some of those groups aren't here anymore. And they didn't escape either." Ally doesn't mean to be a downer and dampen the mood, but she wants them to know how serious this is. If word gets out to even one snitch or guard they'll all go down.
"Should we escape so soon? I mean, come on? We could get more information first. Steal new evidence? I don't know, just something. Why was my dad here? This is so much more than we think. Are you really ready to give that all away so quickly? You all just want to walk away as if everything is normal and not get to the bottom of things?" Sydney can't hardly think about anything but her father. If he was here, is he alive? Perhaps they'd faked a death. She can't leave now that she knows a bit more of the truth.
"No offense, but I'm getting the hell out of here as soon as I can. This isn't something I chose for myself. I don't care why this happened or what it means. I'm getting the fuck out of here." Richie looks to her like she's a madman.
"I'm with Richie. This isn't something we can fix alone, Syd. It's beyond us. I just want to feel safe again." Greta doesn't ever want or mean to upset Sydney, but she's being honest. She doesn't even want to think about the redhead getting hurt.
"So we are all in agreement then? We'll get out together? Of course we need a plan, b-but-..."
Charlie smiles, ready for the challenge. "It's a start. Ally and I will recruit more. Start thinking of the best time to strike, as well as distractions and locations with ways out. This isn't going to be easy, which means you need to practice harder than ever. The only way we'll get through them and their equipment is by using and feeding off of one another's powers. We all need Beverly's fire and Emmitt's teleportation. Kate's force field and Eddie's healing. We need each other more than ever."
They have no time to waste now. Especially with the new research and testing that will take place soon. It's a race with the scientists, who want nothing more than to dissect their minds. They've only ever been lab rats, sitting and waiting in their container. Only maybe these scientists aren't all that smart, considering they've given back what makes them so reckless.
It's time to strike back and take back their lives. Living in a crate just doesn't fit them anymore. Sitting back and doing as told suddenly isn't their style. No one will touch them, that's for sure. No matter the costs or the loss. No matter what.
