My face was red throughout the drive. I kept thinking of the people in the diner that saw it.

I just had to make a scene.

I found a pharmacy along the deserted road, thank God. I quickly gave Ruby my credit card to go buy heated pads and diapers for Raelynn.

I should probably buy her some clothes. I should buy all of them clothes. We have nothing other than the bag full of guns, credit cards and the clothes on our back.

And my car.

When Ruby came back and handed me the pads, I told the boys to all get out of the car. Since they just had to be no ladies' room in the pharmacy in the middle of nowhere.

How convenient.

I am just thankful the windows are all tinted or else this would have been very awkward.

Hell, wearing a damn pad in a car is awkward already.

Once I was done, I told everyone to get in and we continued on our journey. I was so grateful to God when I found a motel not too far from the pharmacy.

I put the car in park, quickly saying a silent prayer. I hope that I'll still find the car here tomorrow morning.

I opened the trunk and took out the bag, gathering my siblings, we walked in.

The reception was the definition of a hunted living room. The place looked old and dusty with cobwebs everywhere. The lightbulbs frequently turned on and off.

But the scariest thing of all was the sound we heard. It was the sound of an old man snoring loudly.

"Is that a dinosaur?" Rolland asked looking at the man in the weirdest way possible.

"That is scientifically impossible, dinosaurs are extinct and that was hundreds of years ago. Duh?" Ranger said adjusting his glasses on his face.

"It's called sarcasm dumbo," Rolland said rolling his hands. I rolled my eyes at both of them.

I tapped on the table the man was resting on. In the blink of an eye, the man sat up and held a gun to my head.

Instincts made me subconsciously withdraw the gun on my waistband and aim at his. Ruby screamed and ran behind Rolland.

"Woah take it easy man," Rolland said stretching a hand to the man signaling for him to calm down while his other hand was on Ruby's back calming her down. What a brave kid.

"Who are you? What do you want? I have no money?!" The old man shouted frantically, probably still trying to understand what is going on.

"We're customers trying to pay for a room to sleep tonight? We don't want any trouble," I said it more like a question instead of a statement. My gun never leaving the man's head. I soon realized I was still holding Raelynn in my other arm.

This isn't advised, is it?

"Then why do you have a gun?" the old man asked.

"Protection. Why do you have a gun?" I fired back.

"Protection," he said. He dropped his gun raising his hand in surrender.

I was about to put my gun back on my waistband, before I noticed how Ronan was staring at it.

He was thinking about something. And I didn't like it.

I asked for a room with three beds so that we can all pair. Once we were all settled and had a shower, Rolland, Ranger, and Ruby went to bed. Raelynn was sleeping peacefully in my arms.

But Ronan.... He was just.... Lost in thought. He kept staring at the wall.

I tapped his shoulder signaling for him to follow me outside. I placed Raelynn beside Ruby, placing a kiss on both their heads. I stepped outside, The cold air hitting my face. The moon was full and shined beautifully in the sky.

The stars twinkled so bright in the sky. It was one of the most beautiful sights to see.

I remember going stargazing with dad when I was little. I think Ruby was just born. She was such a trouble maker, Raelynn was quiet compared to her....

******Flashback****

The sound of Ruby's cries filled the house as mom tried calming her down. She rocked her back and forth, singing her a lullaby.

"Maria, why is Ruby crying so much?" My dad whined entering Ruby's room. I sat innocently on the bed licking my lollipop.

"Probably cause she's exactly like her father! always whining," my mom said in an annoyed tone.

"Hey, I am not a trouble maker. You take that back!" My dad said.

"See what I am talking about? You're a thirty-seven grown-ass man and yet you whine like a damned child!" My mom snapped back.

"Do not!" My dad said balling his fists to his side.

"Do too!" my mom shot back.

"Do not!"

"Do too!" Ruby's cries got even louder.

"That's it! everyone out. You're annoying her," my mom said and my dad scoffed.

"Come on Roxy pie let's go somewhere we're appreciated," my dad huffed, he took my hand and led me out of the house.

The stars shined brighter than ever. Making its reflection glow in my eyes. I gasped.

"Daddy!! look! Look!!" I said jumping up and down, pointing at the stars.

"Wow, it's beautiful," my dad said looking up at the stars.

"Pretty! Pretty!!!" I said, clapping excitedly.

"Do you want to know a secret?" my dad said, he kneeled in front of me, so he was the same height as me.

I gasped, "yes! Yes!!"

"Ok... But you must promise not to tell anyone," my dad said and I nodded excitedly.

"When we leave this Earth, we will be up in those stars, watching over you. Protecting you. Whenever you feel alone. Talk to the stars, it will make you feel better. Do you understand?" My dad said. I nodded.

"Now come, let us touch the staaarrsss!!!!" My dad said picking me up and twirling me around in the air.

I screamed and laughed in excitement. The air felt so good on my nightgown as he twirled me around.

"I love you, Daddy!"

"I love you too Roxy pie!"

****End of flashback****

I stared up at the stars, my eyes feeling itchier than ever.

"Dad, I miss you. I feel so alone and lost without you. I have no idea how to take care of everyone. I was trained to fight, defend, and kill. But you never taught me how to take care of everyone. I am so clueless, I don't know what to do. Please help me. I need your help. Please."  I said, my voice breaking.

I felt someone place their hand on my shoulder, I completely forgot Ronan was here.

He gave me a small smile and I spoke. "Dad always said whenever you feel alone, you talk to the stars, it always makes you feel better," I said looking up at the stars.

I stayed there for a few minutes, staring at the breathtaking sight before deciding to get some sleep. I was entering the room but what happened next put the biggest smile ever on my face.

"I love you guys," Ronan's familiar yet unfamiliar voice pierced through my ears. It was raspy, low and very soft.

It was nothing short of a Melody.
