I watched without mercy, without pity, without empathy, and without regret as thousands of Dark Territory Soldiers were sentenced to death. I had a cold, hard look on my face as the slightest hints of a sadistic, cold smile appeared on my face. Watching them feel the same pain Eldrie felt, the fear I experienced, as he died brought some joy to me. Giving them a taste of my Divine Wrath, a warning to all that I was the First and Last line of defense for my family. Mother and Father, Selka, Kirito, and, even, Eugeo- I was the first to raise my blade for them and I'd be the last to fall. I then broke free of my frenzy when I heard Bercouli yell out to me from below, I had Amayori follow him.
We landed on a rock some distance away. "The Dark God Vector sure seems obsessed with you, kid." Bercouli told me, "He's planning to come after you with his entire army." I glanced at Bercouli. "I suppose we should be happy about that. It's better than being ignored, at least." I replied. Bercouli then lowered the lens he was using, "So about our strategy going forward. The raid unit and I will keep leading the enemy unit away, and reduce their force's numbers. Does that sound right?" Bercouli finished. I nodded at him, answering his question. "Yes. We've already annihilated half of their forces, which only leaves the enemy's main force of the Dark Knights and the pugilists. We'll wear them down to a certain point, and if we can defeat the Dark God Vector, it's highly likely that the remaining enemies will be open to a truce." I stated. Bercouli then looked torward the advancing army. "The problem is, who will be leading the enemy when that happens? If only that Shasta punk were alive." He mused, scratching his chin. I looked directly at him, turning my head. "Bercouli, you think the Dark Knight general is already dead?" I asked him. "Yeah. I can't detect him in the main enemy force. I did have a feeling that maybe..." Bercouli was interrupted by the arrival of Renly.
"Allow me to make my report, Knight Commander. There'll be no problem using the designated spot in the south for our ambush." Renly said. "Alright. Thanks for checking. Have the units prepare to move out. Your dragon must be exhausted, be sure to give it plenty of food and water." Bercouli replied. "Yes, sir!" Renly responded and left. Bercouli smirked a bit and huffed. "Bercouli?" I questioned. "Robbing people of their memories, and freezing their life to create Integrity Knights... I agree the Synthesis Ritual shouldn't be allowed. But it'll be a shame not to have young fellows like him joining the order anymore, you know?" Bercouli said. I looked to him with a relaxed expression, "I don't believe that abducting people and altering their memories is the only way to make an Integrity Knight, Bercouli. Just open up the order to accept volunteers, make them pass a test or trial. Then I could freeze their life if they wished, that way they could be Integrity Knights. After all, I was never Synthesized yet I'm still an Integrity Knight." I smiled at him, "Besides, even if none of us live through this war, our souls... our purpose, our code, will be inherited by those who come after us. That is what I believe." I finished. Bercouli just looked out torwards the stars above, clearly pondering over what I had just said.
The sound of shouting prompted me to turn my head, seeing the Pugilists and Dark Knights charging in. "They're here, Bercouli." Bercouli responded, "The pugilists are going to be a handful. They'll gladly take injuries from a fist, but they absolutely refuse to be slashed with a sword." I turned to fully face him once again. "Refuse?" I wondered. "The more training those pugilists undergo, the more they're convinced "a blade is nothing to be afraid of." That becomes their willpower, and they literally harden their physical bodies to deflect any blade." Bercouli punched his open palm with his fist, stepping forward a bit. "Either way, we'll need to prepare ourselves to defend against them." I felt a bit of sweat bulding on my face, I was excited about this. "I shall go." I then turned to look for the source of the voice and was shocked to find that it was Scheta, Bercouli was also stunned. Scheta went down into the valley to face the pugilists.
The battle began and Scheta had a brutal style of combat. Yet I couldn't sense any hostility or murderous intentions from her. "Don't think about it. I've known her for over a hundred years and I still have no idea what she's thinking. Not a clue." The elder Knight said, clearly knowing what I was thinking. Or at least he was good at guessing. "It fine if we leave this to her. The enemy's main force will catch up soon. We have to get ready for their attack." Bercouli said. I nodded and followed after him.
I then understood that Royne was in danger, her screaming being the first solid indication which caused me and Bercouli to quicken our paces. We soon ended up behind Renly. "Who would've thought they figured out our plan to head south, and placed soldiers here." Bercouli mused, causing Renly to turn to us in shock. "Knight Commander Bercouli!" Renly greeted, Bercouli closed his eyes and scratched his chin. "Renly. Give the order to retreat." He demanded as he opened his eyes. "Little one, rush over and hell the Supply Corps. I'll hold off the enemies coming from the north" He instructed. "Yes, sir!" Renly responded, obeying the order. "You say hold them off but Bercouli, the pugilist numbers close to 5 thousand." I responded, worried. "Well, I'll find a way. Now get going!" I nodded, "Good luck, Bercouli." I then ran torwards the Supply Corps.
As I ran torwards them, I saw a bright in the light. I could see the outline of someone within the light, it was a woman. I picked up my pace, realizing how uncomfortably close she was to Kirito. She looked waved her hand in the direction of the Supply Corps, the direction of Kirito, and then in the direction of Bercouli. The same light that surrounded her traveling out into large patches in the sky, I could feel tremors in the ground. The ground was shaking, and I knew that woman had done something. I narrowed my eyes and started to use incarnation to raise up my speed, 'That girl is after Kirito! There's no other reason she would appear so close to him!" I grit my teeth as I realized that. I had to get to Kirito and fast, before she endangered or hurt him
