INT. LÁSZLÓ PAPP ARENA PRESS AREA - DAY

TITLE OVER: Sunday. 6 days until the final.

Reporters are waiting in the crowded press area.

MODERATOR

Ladies and gentlemen, representing the United Kingdom, Ms. Valerie Ash!

VALERIE (40) walks onto the stage in a shawl, waving to the assembled reporters. There is a big cheer. She takes a seat.

VALERIE

Hello everyone! Thank you very much! How do we start?

The moderator points to Reporter #1 and she gets up.

REPORTER #1

Welcome, Ms. Ash. Your rehearsals made quite an impact. How do you feel about it?

VALERIE

Well, thank you. First of all, I've been made to feel very welcome since the moment I arrived. The rehearsals went quite well. I feel confident that I'll make all my fans and Britain very proud.

REPORTER #1

Is it true you're hiding a baby bump?

MODERATOR

Let's get another question.

VALERIE

It's OK, I will answer. It's totally ridiculous...

Reporters wait with anticipation.

VALERIE

...how happy I am to share this news with you! I am expecting a baby and I feel very very blessed.

People applaud.

VALERIE

Phew! It's good to have an answer to all that weight gain nonsense!

The reporters laugh.

REPORTER #2

Will it affect your physical performance on stage?

VALERIE

Not at all. You know I've danced all through my 22-year career. And we have a great choreography which is perfectly safe for me to do. But I hope EBU won't mind a seventh person on stage with me.

People laugh.

VALERIE

Well, whatever, I've always been a rule breaker.

REPORTER #3

People are saying that you're doing Eurovision this year because you're not as popular as you used to be? What do you have to say about that?

VALERIE

Umm, I invite you to take a look around the room.

People laugh and cheer.

VALERIE

There's always one, isn't there? The truth is, I've always shared a fan base with Eurovision and there has been immense enthusiasm for me to do it. It's the world's biggest stage for music! I'm not going to the Jungle in the end, am I? (to the Moderator) Is that a thing here? Do people know?

REPORTER #4

Are you confident that you'll win?

VALERIE

Well I've heard a lot of arguments that I will win. And they sound very convincing!
