Children of Gods pt.2

I lean against a tree as I watch the events of Joshua's first training session take place. Hidden in the back, no one, not even Percy, has noticed me yet. Well, he's gotten his hand full with the new fighter. Everyone in the arena, including the house of Ares and Athena, wanted to see what the new son of Zeus was made of. They cheer him on as he battles the son of Poseidon.

The entire amphitheater cheers as I bring my sword down onto Percy's. I bring it over my head again, almost coming down onto his head before his sword blocks it and then pushing it away, making me lose my balance. I stumble to his right, allowing him to take a smack to my side. I fall into the dirt. The crowd roars for Percy.

"Get up, kid."

I quickly stand up, panting before getting back into my stance. He comes at me again, striking to my left side. I block it and he swings his head over his head, then goes to my right. I block that and I, with all the strength in my arms, guide his sword to his right side, exposing his abdomen to me. I pick up my left leg and drive it into the chest piece of his armor. He stumbles back and I spin to slash my sword across the chest piece once more. He falls to the ground. I step towards him to stand over him, pointing my sword to his now exposed chest. Where the fuck did that come from? The crowd cheers. I step away from Percy, once I hear his laughter enters my ears. I accidentally pump into someone behind me. I turn to find my new brother, Jason, smiling at me. He grabs my free wrist that is covered by the protective gear.

"And the winner is Joshua, son of Zeus."

He looks to Percy and shakes his head as the defeated warrior gets up from the ground.

"Shut up, Jason."

My brother looks back to the crowd. Wanting more of a show, he asks,

"Who else wants to face the wrath of a son of Zeus? Who's brave enough to take on the future leader of the Children of Gods?"

The crowd breaks into chatter, but one voice overpowers the rest.

"I do."

The crowd separates as a figure steps out of the darkness. My eyes connect with mismatched ones. My brother drops my hand as we watch her descend the stone steps of the amphitheater. My eyes run over her body. She's wearing a chest piece with the Hades symbol imprinted on the stomach. Arms completely exposed, letting all of her scars show. On her legs, she sports black battle pants with black leather sheath that holds a long sword with a black handle. Her long silver and hair is tied back in a tight ponytail, exposing all of her face.

"I would like to fight the future leader of the Children of Gods."

She scoffs at the last part of that sentence. Percy steps in front of me, almost like he was protecting me from her.

"Melinoe, what are you doing?"

"I'm fighting Joshua, son of Zeus. The future of leader of the Demi-God Army. Do you have a problem with that, Percy, son of Poseidon?"

"He's just a boy, Melinoe. His brother gave him that title. That imbecile doesn't know what he's doing. And why are you here? You haven't been here in about a year."

I dip my head down, looking up at Percy. "Like I said, to fight the new son of Zeus. Now, step back." He doesn't move, so I pull my head back up straight. "Don't make me do this the hard way, Percy."

"He doesn't know everything, yet."

"Well, this is a perfect opportunity for him to find out." He stares at me for a minute, then sighs. He turns to Joshua, not looking him in the eyes as he says,
