Asylum

I laugh at my friend's hilarious stunt outside of our shared house. He tries to pull himself out of the pool, but I push him back in. Making me laugh harder. I love making these kinds of videos with them. We all huddle around the camera after he gets out. "Ok, like and subscribe guys. Leave a comment and turn on those post malone-ifications. And we will see you on FRIDAY!!!!" We all yell at the top of our lungs. My stomach aches at all of the laughing. Someone turns off the camera. I sigh, wishing it wasn't over. I hug everyone and get back into the house. Thankfully, I won the challenge, so I didn't have to jump into the freezing cold pool. I walk down the hallway to my bedroom door, noticing it's open a little. I'm pretty sure I didn't leave it that way. I walk over to the tiny sliver and pier into my room. Someone's lying on my bed, curled up in the comforters. I quietly take a couple of steps forward, trying not to wake the person. When I realize it's her, my heart swells. She has buried herself into my sheets. Probably tired of waiting for me to come up and surprise me. Her face in pure bliss as she lightly snores in my bed. I smile at her childish state. I slowly and quietly take off my jeans, leaving me with my shirt and underwear. Without trying to wake her, I lift up the blanket, allowing me to slide in. She shifts in her sleep at the sudden loss of warmth and I pause, not moving a muscle. I don't want her to wake up. She looks too peaceful to be woken up. After a couple of seconds, I resume my actions. One foot enters the warmth of the bed and I sit beside her. I take a moment to watch the air go in and out of her nose. Breathing in my scent off of the sheets. Her long hair covers most of her face, making it hard to see all of her, but I know her too well. If I touch her now, she would wake up. I lay flat on my back, not taking my eyes off of her sleeping on her side as I pull the comforter up to my chest. The freckles on her cheek make me remember the first time we met at that club a couple of months ago. You couldn't see anything in the dark lighting of that place, but I could see her facial features so clearly. I would never forget the moment she took my hand and lead me out of that dark hole. Physically and metaphorically. I don't know if she will fully understand that. But that's for another day. I move closer to her, not caring if I wake her at this point. I just need her touch. I place my head into her chest and she breathes in an elongated breath. She's awake. She doesn't say anything as she wraps her arms around me. I wrap mine around hers. I close my eyes and hope that we will never leave this asylum that she has created. She has made herself a shield, unintentionally guarding me from the rest of the world. No matter how bad it gets, she makes it better. I owe her everything and for that I could never repay her. I snuggle further into the woman that I have given my entire heart and soul to. I just hope that she does the same for me.
