Chapter One

"I heard that there's a lot of OR cases in the hospital, buti may time ka pa for dinner Dr. Callego?" Sabi kaagad ni Kesz nang makalapit siya sa akin.

Wearing a beige maxi dress and heels while her hair has curled ends, she really look stunning.

Hindi na rin ako magtatakang alam niya na madaming cases sa Operating Room, she's the hospital director in St. Michael's Hospital.

"Dra. Cuerva, tinapos ko na lahat ng OR cases ko kanina, so that I can make time for you." I smirked then I hugged her.

"Oh really?" She teased.

"Shall we eat?" I asked.

Few minutes after, I felt that the atmosphere became dull and heavy.

"Are you fine, Kesz?"

"Yeah, it's just..." She trailed off.

"Just what?"

"How long do we go like this?" Diretsong tanong niya.

What?

"I mean, sorry. Dad's just being makulit about us. Being married and all." Bumuntong-hininga siya.

"Are you tired of me?" Tanong ko naman.

"No, no. I'm really sorry, Sebastian. I don't wanna ruin this wonderful night. Go ahead and eat up. Pero I'm gonna go back na sa hospital after this."

Tumango na lang ako.

Hanggang sa matapos kami ay wala nang umimik. I didn't thought that this night would go this way.

I mean, I'm happy with just us. The thought of me and her together in a house didn't cross my mind yet.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit. We're more than 5 years in a relationship but the plan of getting married is just way out of my league.

I'm not a playboy, if you'd think that way. I just want to achieve more in life.

Yes, I'm one of the best surgeons in the country but I still feel that people still need my service.

Masyado nang kinakain ang oras ko by being a doctor and in my clinic, parang hindi ko na kakayanin 'yung responsibilidad ng isang asawa.

Hindi ko siya masyadong mabibigyan ng atensyon at ayoko no'n. And I'm not willing to give up my profession just because of us settling down, my profession is my first love.

My mind was still in haywire hanggang sa makarating ako sa pad ko.

Hours passed at dapat ay natutulog na 'ko. I still have to go early on the hospital tomorrow to check on the patient.

Dahil hindi ako makatulog, I've decided to find something to read. Then I've realized na wala na 'kong mababasa dahil natapos ko na 'yung mga novels na binili ko.

I ended getting my laptop to read in Ebook but something caught my attention.
