Chapter Fourteen

"Yes, Tito?" I asked Tito Fort over the phone.

Malamang ay tinawagan niya 'ko para sa pagpapalit niya ng hospital director said St. Michael's.

I didn't know if Kesz already told them about what happened to us, and if she already did that, will he still give me that position?

I have skills and I know that but there are more doctors in this hospital who have a potential to become one and I think that they're more deserving than me.

They have more experiences than I have and I think that's the most important factor that is needed to become a hospital director.

"I heard that you're back from your leave, and that's why I called you." He said.

It's been days since we came back from Talim island medical mission and I'm currently here at the hospital.

I also gave Sean a one-week leave para makahanap ako nang papalit kay Drei katulong niya.

"I'm actually at the hospital. Ano po ba 'yun?"

"As you can see, we're planning to have a party tonight. And that's where I'll promote you as the next hospital director." He replied.

Noong una kong malaman na si Kesz ang hospital director, nagtaka ako dahil masyado pa siyang bata kumpara sa ibang mga doktor dito.

Hanggang sa nalaman kong isa pala siyang Cuerva at pagmamay-ari nila ang ospital na 'to, hindi na 'ko nagtaka pa.

"Did Kesz already told you about what happened to us Tito?" Tanong ko.

"Ah yes, but I don't care. You have potential. And besides, you could make things up and be part of our family once again." Sagot naman niya.

"I'm sorry Tito, but I'm declining your offer."

It seems like he stopped for a second, siguro ay hindi makapaniwala sa sinabi ko.

"Are you sure, hijo? Baka nabibigla ka lang." I heard him chuckled.

"No, Tito. I'm fully decided about this. Thank you for your offer but I think there are doctors who are more deserving than me." I explained.

"If that's you decision, then I guess I can't do anything about it." He said before hanging up.

Pinag-isipan ko na 'yung mabuti, bago pa kami makauwi dito as Manila.

Pakiramdam ko kasi ay ginagawa lang niya 'yun dahil may relasyon kami ni Kesz noon at inaasahan niyang magkakabalikan pa kami.

Na parang ang laking utang na loob ko 'yon sa kanila kung sakaling tanggapin ko.

And I don't want that kind of treatment.

Naisip ko din na maganda siguro kung lumipat ako ng ospital na pinagtatrabahuhan kaso ang laking hassle.

New workmates, new environment, and new everything.

Mag-aaksaya lang ako nang oras sa pag-a-adjust.

"Sayang naman, malakas na sana ako sa hospital director kung sakaling tinanggap mo p're." Sabi ni Vin na nasa tabi ko na pala.

He's my second cousin, at siya na rin ang papalit kay Drei sa clinic.

"Shut your mouth, Vin. Kapag may nakarinig na naman niyan, sabihin sumisipsip na naman ako sa mga Cuerva." I glared at him.

"First of all, it's Dr. Alvin Cole Peralta. Hindi 'Vin' lang." He said.

"I didn't call you 'Vin lang', I called you as 'Vin'." I shrugged.

"Woah. Hindi ka naman magsalita dati. Tapos ngayon binabara mo na 'ko? Gano'n ba talaga pag naha-heart broken?" He laughed.

"O baka may taong nakapagpabago sa'yo Sebastian?" He teased.

I immediately thought about Sean for that moment.

Is that true? Nahahawa na ba ako sa kaniya?

"Ay 'yan tayo, e. 'Di nagkukwento. Pero ako pumayag agad na maging kapalit ng best friend mo."

"Alam mo para kang babae, andami mong sinasabi." I said.

"Whatevs. By the way, sabi mo may makakasama naman ako sa clinic, right?" He asked and I nodded.

"Sean 'yung pangalan, right?"

"Wala ka bang pasyente?" I asked him dahil daldal siya nang daldal dito.

"Mamaya pa 'yung operation. Kasama mo 'ko mamaya sa OR p're. Kaya sagutin mo na lang 'yung mga tanong ko." He continued.

Ayos lang kaya kay Sean na kasama siya? Napaka-ingay. Tsh.

However, I think magkakasundo naman sila dahil do'n.

Tinanguan ko na lang 'yung tanong n'ya kanina.

"Ano ba 'yan. 'Di ko type. Pang lalaki 'yung pangalan." He said.

Well, mas okay naman na hindi niya type si Sean. She's safe with that dahil masyadong playboy 'tong si Vin.

"On second thought, patingin ng picture. Hahaha. Kapag 'di mo pinakita, 'di na ako papayag maging substitute doctor sa clinic mo."

Paniguradong hindi naman niya ako titigilan hanggang mamaya kaya ipina-search ko na lang sa kaniya sa Facebook.

"Oh. She's cute! I mean she dresses like a boyish type of girl but hell, she's definitely cute!" He said.

"Don't ever think that you could make her one of your girls, Vin. I'm warning you." I warned him.

"Okay, chill. Siya siguro." He blurted out while still looking at his phone.

"Siya siguro ang alin?" I asked him.

"Ang future ko." He said then laughed.

Kumunot naman ang noo ko sa sinabi niya.

What the hell.

"Did you just saw your face? Para kang papatay. Hahaha." He laughed while pointing at me.

May sapak talaga sa ulo. Nataguriang neurosurgeon, hindi man lang mapatignan 'yung sariling utak. Tsh.

"But seriously, mukhang s'ya nga." He said, serious at this time.

Hindi ko na lang siya pinansin, baka kalokohan na naman ang nasa isip.

"Siya siguro ang nakapagpabago sa'yo."

"How did you say so?" I asked.

"Tumatawa ka na ng totoo at mas matagal, ngumingiti out of random things, and all of that stuff." He explained.

"That's impossible because you're just from a heart break. At mukhang s'ya lang naman ang nakakasama mo lately so I conclude to that." Dagdag niya.

"I salute at this girl really. You're an uptight man so how could she do that? Kaya naman mas lalo ko na siyang nagugustuhan."

"Don't you dare messing with her Vin. Sasapakin kita." I warned him again.

"See? You're overprotective!"

"I'm not. I just see her as Nia." I said pertaining to my twin sister.

"E 'di liligawan ko siya! I promise I won't mess with her so don't you worry p're."

I don't know why but deep inside me, I feel like I want to punch Vin's face right at that moment.
