We kissed. Hermione and I finally kissed, Sam said to herself. I think it was the best thing that happened to me so far since moving to England.
Sam couldn't contain her happiness even when she and Hermione went separate ways for the night. She was caught humming enthusiastically by Mr. Filch as she headed towards the dungeons. Peeves was happily throwing chalk dusts on Sam. But Sam didn't mind.
Even in her bed, Sam couldn't get to sleep. She kept on replaying the same thing over and over in her head. It was like a movie scene.
Sam kept touching her lips and remembering how soft and warm was Hermione's. How lucky she was that feelings were really mutual to begin with.
The very next day during breakfast, Sam waited enthusiastically at the doorway of the Great Hall for Hermione. She was both excited and scared of this newfound relationship she had with her. But does this mean she has moved on from Roo?
Sam looked towards Draco eating with his friends in the Slytherin table. And she remembered how Draco was there when she got her heart broken from Roo and her mother's death.
And just five minutes ago, she was avoiding Draco on the way up from their common room. Maybe he was trying to get a word about her and Hermione's situation. Even that, Sam didn't have an answer. What exactly are they now?
When Hermione walked down the stairs, Sam immediately forgot everything as she smiled from ear to ear. Hermione had her brown hair down and she's wearing a grey sweater vest instead of robes. She looks so effortlessly beautiful, Sam thought.
Sam wanted to kiss Hermione right on the spot. She missed her a lot too. Even though it was only last night they were together.
However, Sam didn't get a chance to kiss Hermione. Hermione didn't give her a chance to, either.
Hermione quickly seized Sam's hand, pulling her to the Gryffindor table for breakfast.
Sam avoided Rose's glaring eyes as they entered the Great Hall. She hadn't had a chance to tell Rose yet that Hermione had changed her mind. Rose was pretty adamant and kind of annoying the previous days, asking whether there's something going on between Sam and Hermione. And Sam could remember how Rose grinned when she said nothing.
Now, it was completely obvious something was going on between them.
As they ate their breakfast, Ginny couldn't stop smiling at the both of them, even laughing and whispering things to Harry, which also made him laugh.
Sam looked at Hermione beside her, dying to talk about what happened yesterday. She wanted to know what they are right now. Are they dating? Are they officially a couple?
As they bid farewell for class, Hermione almost avoided Sam when she tried to kiss her on the cheeks.
Sam immediately began to wonder whether she did something wrong. Sam even thought if what happened last night was only a dream. If it was only her imagination that Hermione kissed her.
It was during their free period when Sam finally realized that Hermione wanted to keep it as private as possible.
As soon as they arrived in their hiding spot, Hermione instantly pulled Sam for a kiss, her hands clutching Sam's robes.
Hermione then snaked her arms around Sam's shoulders while Sam's arms hugged Hermione's back as they kissed.
Sam held Hermione's face and placed her thumb on her lower lip, prying her mouth open. Hermione allowed access for Sam, welcoming and playing with each other's tongue.
After what seemed like five minutes, the two broke apart to catch their breath. Then they laughed, with foreheads pressed against each other.
"I... I...," Sam stuttered.
Hermione kissed her again as she said cunningly, "Just shut up and kiss me, Sam."
Sam chortled and kissed Hermione back, running her fingers through Hermione's hair. It was obvious they were thirsty with desire.
When they were around people, they kept it casual. But when they were alone, they would take every opportunity there is to kiss and make out.
Sometimes, Sam would watch Hermione read and study. She liked watching Hermione study. She liked it when Hermione was frowning. She liked it even more when a dimple would show on Hermione's face when she caught her staring. Then Hermione's face would turn into different shades of pink.
Sometimes, Hermione would rest her head on Sam's shoulders and talked about random things that would come to mind.
"No wonder Draco's no longer bothering me," Hermione said, laughing. "Even other Slytherin students ignore me now. They used to call me names in the hallway."
"Well, my brother's not really a bad person himself," Sam replied, smiling. "He just wants to look like it."
"Does he know?"
"Mm?"
"Draco. Does he know about us?"
"I... I haven't told him yet... I haven't got the chance too... He was... He was pretty busy spending time with his friends lately...."
"And Rose?"
"What about her?"
Hermione turned to look at Sam and grabbed her face. "Does she know you're taken?"
Sam chuckled, grinning from ear to ear. "Well, she doesn't have to ask to know."
Before they bid farewell for their next class, Sam gave Hermione a small hardbound red book.
"What is this?" Hermione laughed out loud. When she looked at the blank pages, Hermione realized it was like a notebook. "I've got loads of these, Sam."
"No, no, these are magical... wait I'll show you.."
Sam pulled an identical notebook from her bag and wrote something on it.
Hi! She wrote.
"Open yours," Sam said.
Hermione smiled idiotically as she opened the notebook. And in there, Hermione could read what Sam wrote.
"Merlins! Where did you get this?"
"I made one myself," Sam said. "My mom taught me."
Hermione smiled back then she embraced Sam, whispering thank you. Hermione buried her face into Sam's neck and Sam could feel the warmth from her breath.
Then Sam whispered back into Hermione's ear, "It feels so great around you."
