Everything happened so fast. They became friends. They moved in. They started to have sex. They became a couple. Lisa met Jennie's father. Jennie said she loved Lisa. Lisa felt she was becoming a mother too. They got a big scare. Jennie kept things from Lisa. And that last part bothered Lisa more than it should.
She started to question what she and Jennie had. Maybe the big problem was that Lisa was into Jennie months before Jennie was able to even considerate a relationship between them. Lisa had big expectations. She made plans. She changed her life to fit Jennie's. She opened her heart. She knew it could be crushed. And maybe it would be.
Yes, Jennie was an amazing person. Gentle and loving with her. But maybe it was too much and too fast. Maybe Jennie was not on the same page. She preferred to spend a fortune than to marry Lisa. She didn't trust her enough. All of that didn't crush Lisa's heart, but it was painful anyway.
On top of her physical exhaustion, all of this questions and concerns were draining her body's energies. She fell asleep on the couch, only awaking hours later, with a blanket over her. She stretched her body and walked to the fridge, looking for something to eat. She settled with some chocolate milk. In the bedroom, Jennie was deeply asleep. Lisa joined her, laying on her side, but keeping her back facing Jennie, who was also sleeping on her side. With the belly showing up more, it was getting hard to find a different position to lay.
Lisa didn't know how many other hours she had spent thinking about her situation, when she was awake again, Jennie was pressed against her back. She felt her heart heavy. Tears were coming down from her eyes. She didn't remember the last time she felt like that. Like there was something really heavy over her chest. She climbed out of the bed, returning to the living room. She pace around the place, hating the tears that were falling. She buried her face on the couch pillow, muffling her sobs. When she was awake again in the morning, she was feeling a little better. Somehow the sunshine soothed her. She walked to the fridge and saw a note on the door.
Made you breakfast, sleepyhead! It's on the oven. Guess what it is?
Love you
J
A timid smile sneaked on her face. She opened the oven and found a pile of pancakes. Maybe not everything was ruined.

Jennie tried her best to get home early. The whole day she was expecting a text from Lisa, thanking her for the breakfast. In some weird way, food always seemed to be connected to their relationship. Cupcakes, cookies, pizzas, pasta, pancakes. All of that made her thinking about Lisa. Well, lately lots of things had made her think about Lisa. When she saw a wedding dress, she remembered how amazing Lisa looked in one of them. When she looked at the flowers, she remembered the tulips Lisa gave her. When something unusual happened with a client, she wanted to be the first to tell Lisa the story. But, in that day, Lisa didn't tell her anything. No story, no thank you, nothing. That was weird. Jennie knew that something was wrong.
It was weird to find Lisa still on the couch in the morning. She was almost sure Lisa went to bed in the middle of the night. Maybe she went there to watch TV. Yes, that was a real possibility. Lisa was struggling to keep a normal sleeping schedule. Maybe it was time for her to find a new job. Jennie knew she could help somehow.
When she arrived at the apartment, Lisa was lying on the couch, watching the weather channel. That was really odd, Jennie thought.
"Hey!" She said getting closer to Lisa.
