S P E N C E R   J A M E S O N

Sunlight pours into the room as my eyes flutter open from one of the best sleeps I've had in a long time.

I stretch my arms and get out of the bed, walking over to the small mirror and catching a glimpse of me reflection.

I look like I'm on the way to audition for a role in The Walking Dead. Shit, do I always look like this in the morning?

I tie my hair up into a bun and open the door to look for the bathroom. I eventually find it and pick up a spare tooth brush that Kane must have left for me and brush my teeth. Once I've freshened up I decide to head downstairs when my eyes suddenly catch a glimpse of blond hair.

Oh my god.

I go to turn around when I bump into the corner of a table, causing me to curse under my breath. She hears me and moves backwards, turning around and when our eyes meet I feel as though I'm literally about to die.

How am I supposed to explain to his girlfriend the reason I'm here without her thinking that I'm lying?

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise Mr Walker had a guest." She says and my eyes widen.

Mr Walker?

"I'm — I'm sorry?" I stutter and she gives me a friendly smile.

"I'm Jane, Mr Walker's house keeper." She introduces, extending her hand for me to shake.

House keeper?

I take it, "I'm Spencer."

"It's nice to meet you, are you hungry? I'm just about to make breakfast."

I look around the room anxiously, "actually I was just looking for—" I watch as her eyes flick behind me and I turn to see Kane walking towards us.

A black tee shirt covers his large frame and a pair of black sweatpants hang loosely around his waist. "Morning," he greets me with a small smile before looking at Jane. "Hey Jane."

"Good morning Mr Walker." She replies and she gives him a friendly smile in return before walking into the kitchen.

He glances down at me and I suddenly forget how to function. Breathing? Blinking? What are they? "Did you sleep well?" He asks and I just nod. "Good, hungry?"

"A little." I reply shyly to which he flashes me a small smile.

He walks into the kitchen and I follow him as we take a seat at the table. "What do you want?" He asks and I shrug.

"I don't know, um are you sure it's okay if I eat here?" He completely disregards my question and looks over at Jane.

"Can we get some bacon sandwiches please Jane." he says and she nods.

"Of course."

She turns back around and begins preparing our food when I notice Kane looking at me. "Let me guess, you thought she was my girlfriend?"

I look up at him and nod slowly, "I nearly died." I tell him humorously and he laughs, running a hand through his dark hair. "She's very pretty." I add, not really knowing why and he nods.

"Yeah she is.. she's a little older than what I go for though and plus, I prefer brunettes anyway" he simply says and I glance down at my hands, my eyes catching a glimpse of a strand of my brown hair. I nervously press my lips together and catch him still staring at me from my peripheral vision.

I hear a light chuckle escape his lips. "Why were you at the shell?"

My head lifts back up and I face him again, "Harlow basically tricked me. She said we were going to a concert but we ended up there instead." I reply and don't miss his lips as they curl up into an amused smile.

"She tricked you?"

"Mhm."

He grins "well you should be careful. It's not the type of place you should be, it's not safe."

I nod, "yeah, I gathered that."

Jane places a plate in front of us both with some sandwiches on and I thank her before picking one up and taking a bite.

I lean across to pick up the tub of tomato ketchup when my hand brushes against his. I jump at the unexpected contact and a small gasp escapes my lips as my eyes shoot up to meet his.

We both pull away at the same time and I laugh nervously as I bring my hand back to my plate. He smiles and a low chuckle escapes his mouth. "You go first." He says and I purse my lips as I reach over again to take it.

I pour some beside my sandwich and give it to him and watch as he does the same.

We both simultaneously pick up our sandwiches at the same time and dip the edge into the ketchup before eating it.

I catch him doing it too and he sees me and we both laugh. "I thought I was the only one who did that." He smiles and I raise my eyebrows.

"Me too!" I exclaim and he chuckles softly, taking another bite.

After breakfast I change back into my clothes and Kane drives me back home. He offers to wait in case Marshall still isn't back but I assure him that it's fine and that he can go.

The last thing I need is for him to see me with another man.

I walk inside and up to my apartment before knocking on the door. It opens and Marshall stands on the other side, a cigarette in his hand. "Did you have a good time?" He asks and I nod as I walk inside.

He closes the door behind me and I nervously play with my fingers as I watch him walk over to the sofa and sit down.

I don't want to ask him where he was last night because he'll know I came back. Although I do wonder where he went though. Maybe he had to go to the office for something.

Luckily for me he seems to be in a good mood and the rest of the day goes by without any issues.

His phone however, goes off considerable amounts even into the a.m, but I don't really think to deep into it.

It's probably just his work.
