John walked into the reception area of the hospital and walked towards the desk where two ladies were standing

"Hello ugh you have my daughter Tilly here. Is she ok?"

The ladies turned to see John.

"Hello Mr Lennon im Ruby I'm the lady who rang you earlier. We are in a  difficult situation as we don't know who the young lady is. We had a girl brought in with a gun shot wound she was unconscious and when she woke up this morning we tried to ask her what her name was but she didn't remember. We had another lady who's daughter is in the next room ask us what your daughter was doing here as she recognised her from the newspaper and that's how we were able to get in contact with you. The reality is that the young lady may not be your daughter and the woman was wrong so please don't pin your hopes on this being your daughter as we truly don't know"

John looked confused as it was alot of information to take in all at once.

A huge part of John was wanting this to be Tilly but he was also was hoping that it wasn't. This girl sounds like she has forgotten who she is and John wasn't sure how he could cope.

"Mr Lennon" the nurse said tugging John away from his thoughts

"Yes. Sorry I was miles away"

"Are you ready to see the girl?"

" I think so"

John followed the nurse down the long corridor and Paul's song the long and winding road was playing threw John's head as the song seems to fit the situation perfectly.

Suddenly they came to a stop and they were at a hospital room.

"She is in that room Mr Lennon"

John felt hesitant to look towards the room. John  was completely overwhelmed with emotions the main emotion being fear. What if she didn't remember him? What will he do? How could he look after someone with no memories? Would he be able to do it when he has already been such a lousy dad to her?. He thought that he couldn't stand in a hospital hallway forever and that he needed to face his fears and look. John looked to his right and looked into the window where he saw his daughter laying in the bed picking at her fingernails and his heart dropped. Tilly always picked at her nails when she felt anxious and her mother hated it and thought it was a dirty habit.

"Mr lennon do you know the girl?"

"that's Tilly that's my daughter"

"that's brilliant news."

"is it?"

The nurse looked confused

"of course it is. We now know her name.. She isn't a mystery any more."

"you mentioned earlier about her not remembering her own name. What does that mean? Has she lost her memory?"

"sadly it appears that yes she has lost her memory. How much of her memory she has lost we don't know yet."

"so she won't remember me?."

John was scared to hear the reply to this but he needed to know all the information.

"we really don't know what she remembers and what she doesn't. She could remember things that are from her childhood and not remember things that happened recently. She might remember more recent events but can't remember her childhood or she might not remember anything at all. We really won't know until we talk to her more in depth. She has been threw alot of trauma and sometimes the brain shuts down as a way to protect itself."

"will her memory come back once she starts to recover?."

"it might yes but you have to be prepared for it to not return."

"how can you prepare for your own child not to even know you?."

"you need to always remember it's not her fault and yes it will be frustrating for you but for her everything is blank which means her life is a blank page. She has no memory's and no connections so this is a chance to build a foundation with her and to rewrite her life from today. We are jumping to conclusions here she might remember you we won't know until you enter the room. Are you ready?. "

" I think so"

John walked towards the room and opened the door and was finally face to face with his daughter.

"hello Tilly."
