Reconnecting With My Dad John

Someone Gets Forgotten

"hello Tilly" John said his voice so shaky that his words were hard to hear.

Tilly looked up and stared at the man in front of her and her face lit up with happiness.

"daddy" she squealed

The pure relief John felt was immense she remembered him and he couldn't of been happier.

"you're finally back from tour. " she added.

John was confused

"what do you mean tour?."

"you're so silly. You were touring merica with my uncles"

John turned to look at the nurse

"she must be talking about when the beatles toured America. She was only about 4 years old when that happened"

"sometimes with trama it can bring you back to a time when she was happy and everything else is gone. For Tilly life is exactly like it was back then. Even though she's a teenager in her head she's 4"

"so she won't know she's in America? Or she won't know about yoko?."

"im afraid she won't all she knows is life as it was all them years ago."

"what age are you princess" John asked tilly

" I'm 4 fingers daddy" she said while holding up 3 fingers.

"this is so strange it is exactly like talking to her when she was 4"

"it will be as her head has made her feel like she is 4"

"how will this work though. Won't she be able to see that she isn't 4 when she looks in a mirror?."

"no the brain will trick her to see herself as she was when she was 4. She will see you as you were back then also."

"this is so freaky."

"the brain is a powerful thing."

Suddenly the hospital door flew open and when John turned around his face drained of colour when he saw Cynthia enter the room.

"oh my gosh. my baby your awake I have been so worried. "

Cynthia ran over to Tilly and went to hug her when Tilly began to scream and cry.

"daddddddyyyyy" she screamed

"its OK sweetie calm down your OK" he sat down on the hospital bed and pulled his daughter close to his chest and hugged her while she cried.

"what's going on?." cyn asked so confused as she hadn't been informed about Tilly's memory.

"why were you screaming at cyn for?." John asked Tilly

"who's cyn? I don't know her daddy"

John looked at cyn his heart racing while Cynthia's heart  was breaking.

"I'm your mother Tilly"

"no your not my mother is dead"

"what?." Cynthia asked

"my mother got ran over by a policeman in a car and she died"

Cyn looked at the nurse.

"what's going on?. That's John's mother that got run over by a off duty policeman."

"you're daughter has lost most of her memory. Her brain has transported her back to being 4 years old. Sometimes after a trauma the brain will bring you back to when you were happiest as a way to help heal with the damage that's been done. When Tilly saw John she was happy to see him and was glad he was home from touring America."

"that makes sense as she was always so excited when her daddy came home. Those were some of her happiest moments of her childhood."

John smiled knowing that his daughter was always happy to see him and it made him feel like she did actually love him.

"why doesn't she remember me?. I was always around and why does she think John's mum is her mum?."

"I think the brain has scrambled things up and has made her believe John's mum was her mum and because the brain has tricked her to believe this is true then you have been forgotten. I'm sorry it's always hard to hear that your child can't remember you."

Cynthia began to cry

" this is so horrible. I have always been there for her. Her whole life I've sacrificed and raised her on my own and somehow John's the only one she remembers. John the deadbeat dad who hasn't been there for years"

"your a horrible witch" Tilly said

"don't talk to your mother like that." John scolded.

"she isn't my mother. My mums dead"

This was a horrible situation and John had no idea how to resolve it.
