"Are you seriously going to that party?"
"Of course, I am. Lana personally invited me."
"Your parents are going to kill you."
"What they don't know wouldn't hurt them. Let them think I'm having a sleepover at your place."
"I'm already regretting this."
"The perks of having an amazing best friend who can never say no to me."I got changed. A plunged neckline crop top over a short jeans skirt was sure to work. I took off my horrid glasses and put on some contacts. I even wore some light makeup.
Myles was spellbound.
"Take a picture. It'll last longer." I chuckled.
"Are you even allowed to wear stuff like 'this'? You look like a-"
"Don't say it! Myles, it's just for tonight. I want to fit in."
"Jael, you don't have to look like them to feel wanted. You'd look amazing in anything... decent."
"I know... I know. I'm not in the mood for your self worth speeches. Pff."
"Car keys?" I stretched out my hand to him. He hesitated.
"I still insist. I'm taking you"
"Myles, it's getting late. Just hand it over. No need to worry, I'll bring your car back in one piece. The earlier I go, the earlier I return.""Remember no drinking."
He called out from behind me as I headed out.
'Oh God, why do I just know I'm going to regret this.' He muttered under his breath.Myles was just being his usual overprotective self. I understood where he was coming from but like Lana said 'this was our senior year in high school and we had to enjoy it.' What is life without these fun memories.
Lana was one of the hottest girls in school. She had the most amazing clique and a great fashion sense. She was what we could term the Queen bee. No one dared crossed her path, except of course my sister, Jayla.
Jayla was everything every high school girl dreamed of becoming. The girls wanted to be her or be associated with her and the guys wanted to date her. She was beautiful, confident, poised and intelligent. She never let anyone put her down.
We were complete opposite in that sense. I mean, look at her! She looked like she jumped straight out of the cover of a top magazine.
And I was the horrid looking geek. A DUFF, you could put it. Yes, we had the same outward features, I mean we are identical twins but when you see her, you'll never want to be me, trust me.
But what really made Jayla stand out was her exceptional kind heart.
I got to Lana's apartment. Her parents must be really cool to let her live alone. My parents are so boring. Especially with their faith.
The security let me in. Her apartment was tastefully furnished. There was a crowd inside as the music blasted through the airwaves.Time to unleash the devil inside....
