"How bad was it?"
"Very bad. They're letting me join the Afro Praise whatever." I replied with displeasure.
"That's not a bad thing at all, you should really start getting serious in the faith."
"I don't know. I don't feel the way you do about this Jesus. It's just not my scene. I don't think I need him in my life now. My life has enough drama already."
Jayla rolled her eyes.
"At least you were not locked up in a tall tower like Rapunzel."
"That will save you the stress of climbing my short thick Afro to see me."
"Oh I could really use the exercise at least I'll get to say, 'Rapunzel, let down you hair!" She mimicked dad's corrupted British accent with perfection.
We both burst into laughter. Jayla always managed to make me smile despite the raging storms. She always had my back. I guess that's why we are twins.
"But really how are you feeling with everything going on?" She prepped.
"I know you and you rarely cry and when you do, you become vengeful."
"I'm just fine."

The next day, I got busy trying to catch up with the class all morning. Mum made sure I had all the various lesson schemes for the next two weeks. That way I won't be behind when I get back to school.

There was a knock on the door. I got up to open it.
"Hello Mr. Roberts."
"Hello Miss Carlson. I've been assigned to take you downtown to help out with the upcoming Afro Praise Festival." Oh goodness, I totally forgot about it. I was still in my pjs.
"Just great." I muttered undertone.
"Did you say something Miss?"
"Nothing." I flashed him a smile.
"I'll wait for you outside."
"I'll be down in 20."

Mr. Roberts has been our personal chauffeur for years. He was assigned to Jayla and I when we began elementary school. He loved us so much like his very own children. And we love him too.

I had a quick shower and clad a denim jacket on a white tank top on a pair of jeans. I styled my hair into a soft Afro bun and headed downstairs.

When I got to the Worship Centre, mum and Jayla were already there. I walked up to them.
"Hey, you came." Jayla called our when she noticed me.
"Not like I had a choice." Mum ignored my remark.
"Let's move it girls. We've got a lot to do today."

It was so tedious. A lot was put into every gathering. I was mostly at the back checking on the systems and ensuring that they were at their optimum level.
There were beautiful ministrations. I loved the drama performance, especially. Those people were talented. I got to speak to several people and made some friends. Never thought it would be this fun.

Myles hadn't called me for days. He finally answered my calls after about a thousand tries.
"...."
"Myles"
"Jael"
"Are you still mad?"
"Jael..."
"Myles, I know I should have told you but it was something I was ashamed of and couldn't talk about. I know I messed up and I'm gonna keep regretting it for a lifetime but that's not what's gonna kill me."
"What is?"
"My best friend not talking to me."
He remained silent

"Meet me in my house at 8"
"Myles, I'm grounded. You didn't think my parents were going to let me off the hook that easily, did you?"
"Don't kid me. We both know you would sneak out of that house anyway."
We laughed.
"That bit, you learnt from Jason. That boy cannot be tamed."
We burst into laughter again.

That night I snuck out...
