"Seriously?! I'm almost eighteen. You guys should stop bossing me around for heaven's sake."
"News flash princess, I am your father so I'm never going to stop bossing you around. Now, get in."
"But dad-
"We'll talk inside Jael."
"Please dad..." I put on my puppy face. Tears welled up in my eyes. Jayla assured me that tears were the only way she got dad to do her bidding. If this doesn't work and I look like an idiot, she's so gonna get it from me.
"Dad, I've been grounded for almost two weeks, I've done what both you and mum told me to so far, I just want to go over to Myles' for a little while that isn't a big deal is it?"
He sighed.
It was working. My inner goddess was jumping for joy.
"But why Myles? You could go over to Carrie's." I could sense the tint of jealousy in his voice. He certainly didn't like the idea of his daughter going over to some boy's house.
"Dad, Myles is my friend; there's nothing amorous between us. Besides, he's just next door. If you gave me a car, I-
"Fine! But I'll take you there. You have an hour to get back."
"Thanks dad. This means a lot to me."
"Your mum's going to kill me."
"That's if you tell her."

We got to Myles'. His parents weren't in so he answered the door. He looked like he just got out of bed. Obviously Jael, it's midnight.
"What the h-
"Don't you dare say it!"
"I was going to say heck, Jael."
He immediately noticed my dad.
"Mr. Carlson"
"Myles...." he gave Myles the death stare. Myles literally shook with fright.
'Don't laugh Jael... don't', I tried to restrain myself.
Dad continued.
"... if you try as much as touching a strand of her hair, you'll live to regret it. Are we clear, young man?"
"Y-yes Sir. J-Jael, I'll wait for you upstairs... t- to talk of course."
"Dad! Myles is my friend and that's what he'll ever be; no more, no less."
Myles looked somewhat downcast as he turned away to leave. Was it something I said?

Father turned to me.
"Remember what your mum told you. Now you go and be a holy girl."
"Yes yes father, I'll keep that in mind."
He planted a kiss on my forehead and left. I walked in.

I went up to Myles room. He looked upset.
"Hey. What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing"
"And I'm the Queen of England."
"It's really nothing."
"Okay, as you wish Mr. Grumpy. So why did you ask me to come over, aside the fact I'm your best friend and you missed me?" I flashed him a cocky smile.
"Don't flatter yourself."
I laughed and he continued.
"I figured out why our last experiment went wrong."
"I'm listening."

We corrected the error and tried out the whole procedure again. It worked to perfection. I was so glad I had my  friend back. Myles meant a lot to me. He was a brother to me and with Jason and Jayla, he never made me feel like I was alone in this world and I was grateful to have him.

I couldn't believe how fast two weeks had passed. Today was my first day back to school after my suspension. I couldn't believe I was going to school today. I was really getting used to the idea of staying home all day.

I pulled my hair into a bun and threw my jacket over my shoulder as I headed down stairs. I could feel the wind of change moving in my direction. And I knew it. I was not the same; the high school geek was gone, the Queen was in.

I guess it took this scandal to yank me out of my shell. If Liam thought he broke me, then he was sore wrong; this has only built me.

Immediately my foot touched the grounds of Briarwood, I muttered to myself.
"Liam Kyle, I'm coming for you..."
