My dad rushed to her and took her to their room. My siblings and I followed. She woke up after sometime and requested that we leave. She wanted to rest.

I headed for my room. I was exhausted besides, I wanted to give myself time to analyse the whole situation. I still don't get how one sentence could get mum to have a panic attack.
Jayla followed me to my room. Jayson headed to his room. He didn't get why me going out for two hours was such a big deal.

"Where were you?"
"Stalking Liam. I'd a heads up that he was into some shady business and I was this close to finding out. That would've put him away for good."
"Wasn't getting his scholarship refused and making him the laughing stock enough? You're taking this too far Jael."
"No... I can't get over how he used me."
"Your anger is justified but you have to understand it was by mutual agreement. And you can't repay evil for evil. You've done the worst already. It's enough."
"I was drunk! And it was my first time. You know how much that meant to me. Besides, Myles is disgusted by my very presence."
"Oh so this's about Myles huh?" She had a tint of humour in her voice.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Quit hiding your feelings, you two like it each other, just face it."
"Get your head out of the clouds. Myles has a girlfriend."
"Oh you mean the one you forced down his throat."
"You're delusional."
"And you're in love."
"Alright. I've had enough of you, get out already."

I thought long and hard about what Jayla said. No it can't be true. Me and Myles... No. That'll be like dating Jason.
I don't like Myles, or do I? No, no, it isn't possible. Besides, there's no way Myles would ever like someone like me.

The next day at breakfast, mum announced that the Afro Praise Festival was coming on live that Saturday.

Then dad broached the topic we were all anticipating.
"You're all to maintain your security escorts. We have an enemy on the loose and though you may not like it, it's for you own good, kids."
"Who's this enemy?" Jayla questioned.
"It's a long story kids, we'll talk about it after the festival." Mum cut in.
"I guess I'm stuck here till Monday then" Jason stated in mock disgust and we all burst into laughter.

Shane Nells. He was actually very cool to hang out with. He took me to school and back; he was always in my shadows and for once, I felt safe knowing he's got my back. We soon became friends.

School had closed, I had to hurry. Jayla and Nick were already in the car. I'm sure Shane must be looking for me. I felt someone grab me by the arm. It was Liam.
"You witch! Do you know how much trouble you could have gotten me into for stalking me? Now let me warn you, I've had enough of your sick games. Stay the hell away from me or-
"Or else what?" Shane cut in.
"Let her go this instant or you'll live to regret it."
Liam left go of me and stormed out. I was left speechless but with one thing in my mind. Mr. Diego. He was the only way to get back at Liam.

"It's enough." Shane's voice broke into my reverie
"Huh?"
"Stop making plans to take revenge on Liam. It's enough."
"So apart from being such a hot cake on legs, you also read minds?"
Oh my goodness. Did I just say that out loud? I rubbed my arm in embarrassment as Shane giggled.
"I didn't know you thought I am such a hot piece of cake." He teased and then chuckled.
"Your security is my priority Jael, I'm supposed to know everything about you."
"Does that mean you know about-
"Yes I do. But that's not my point Jael. Stop seeking revenge. It'll only land you in deeper mess. Remember, the battle is the Lord's."
