Chapter 31 (Bonus Chapter 🎉)

After hours of praying, we calmed. He was true to His word. The Holy Spirit took all our anxieties away. We knew better days were ahead.

The cop that shot Carlos came up to us.
"Amber Opare, Secret service." She introduced herself.
"We're been tracking down Diego for weeks now since he escaped from prison. He just managed to slip through our fingers anytime we thought we got him rounded up. We have reason to believe he's got someone on the inside but don't worry, we'll find that out. I'm glad he's finally where he can never harm us."
"Us?" Mum quizzed. She took off her shades.
"Carlos Diego took away the love of my life and the father of my child many years ago."
"Wait... you're-
She nodded sorrowfully.
"I'm so sorry. Wherever Randy is, I'm certain he's doing just fine." Mum hugged her.

A full month had passed. Father was getting better though he'll be stuck in a wheelchair for a couple more weeks.
Uncle Edward's funeral was held last week. Aunt Mia and Carrie can't get over their loss. Melvin's trying to stay strong for them but I know deep down, he's falling apart too.

Shane joined the Secret Service and the last time I heard from him, he was loving it there.

Jayla moved to Cambridge with Jason and Carrie. Mum got an apartment for Jayla and Carrie.

I got into the University of Texas. I was glad because Myles was there too.

Tomorrow, I begin college. I felt a turmoil of different feelings on the inside. I anticipated what the future holds for me in college.

I met up with Myles at our favourite spot on the West Lake beach.
Holding hands and looking up into the sky, we silently communicated; without a word, we let out all that we felt.
The magical orange sunset gracing our beautiful love.
"I love you Jael."
"I love you too Myles."

With God, we overcame. Thank you Jesus for never letting go, for not giving up on me - for chasing me down.
