(Unknown POV)
When she bumped into me, I recognized her immediately. It's hard to forget a Avenger that young.
I followed her keeping quiet a distance between us. Eventually I lost her. That is until heard a scream.
I ran down the street looking for her, checking down the alleyways for any sign of her.
"Ahhhh!!!!" I ran towards the sound of the scream. I stopped when I saw her on the ground as someone kicked her repeatedly.
I punch the man kicking her in the gut, then threw him in the ground. I spun around as someone grabbed my arm. I flipped them on their back punching the in the face multiple times.
I knelt by her. She was curled into the fetal position crying. "Are you okay?" I asked her but she just whimpered.
The man who had been kicking her started to get up so I kicked him in the face.
Carefully I picked her up making sure that I didn't hurt her.
If she was here, then he probably wouldn't be far behind.
(Chloe's POV)
I would've opened my eyes if it weren't for the fact that it hurt to even breath. But, despite the pain I opened my eyes.
Through the blurriness I could tell I was in an apartment of some sorts. I was laying on a bed and the light was on.
I groaned rubbing my eyes with the balls of my hands. I attempted to sit up but was stopped by the hugely annoying pain in my side.
Literally.
Okay. It was more like my stomach, but still.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. You're pretty bruised up." There was a man standing in the kitchen.
He had brown hair that went to about his shoulders, and had gloves and a jacket on.
"You were pretty out of it when I found you." He said bringing over a glass of water.
He held it out to me, but I didn't move. "Smart girl. Don't take stuff from strangers. I'm not gonna hurt you. If I wanted to, I could have already."
I debated whether or not I should take it, but my thirst won over so I took the cup from him, taking a sip from it.
"One of your ribs is broken, so I wouldn't try to do anything crazy like jump out a window." He said.
"Why would I jump out a window?" I asked hoarsely.
He just looked at me and shook his head.
That's when I realized: I recognized him.
I bumped into him on the street earlier.
"I recognize you. I bumped into you earlier. On the street." I told him and he nodded.
"I'm glad your memory still works." He said sitting in the edge of the bed.
"I'm James." He said outstretching his hand.
I shook it a few times then withdrew my hand. "I'm Zoe. And thank you. For helping me that is."
"You're welcome. But your name's not Zoe. Is it?" He smiled.
It was weird. It wasn't a creepy smile, it was more of a knowing smile.
"Do you really not wonder why I brought you here instead of a hospital? You're with the Avengers. What do you think would happen if a Avenger showed up at a hospital in Rio? By herself?" He asked going back to the kitchen and I did think what would happen.
