Evelyn's POV
We stood there enjoying being in each other's embrace for lord knows how long until the serene feeling was no longer present anymore since my brother chose to barge into my room.
Bran was however, in complete beta mode.
"Alpha, we've caught some fainted rogue scents by the East side of the border, but that's not what I'm exactly worried about..." he trailed.
"Then what is it, Bran?" Shane asked Bran giving him his full attention now.
"T-This... is what we found when we tried to track their scent..." he stated handing in a folded piece of paper to Shane.
Once Shane opened it, his eyes scanned through the paper as his jaw clenched and his palms balled up into tight fists turning his knuckles white.
"That bastard" he spat gritting his teeth throwing the piece on the floor and making his way out my room at instant with Bran hot on his tail.
Well... what crawled up his ass? What could that be? I lifted up now the crumbled paper off the floor before reading it.
It said...
Hello to the almighty Alpha,Hope you remember what's today. December 3rd. Today, fourteen years back, was the day when I lost everything, everything that you took away from me. I didn't forget it. The fire of revenge is still burning inside of me and you mating with your mate will just help me destroy you with that fire. I'm coming. Earlier than you assume, Shane. I will obtain what's rightfully mine.
Astonishment hit me at immediate. Who could this be...? A-and what's rightfully theirs..? What does it have to do with us mating anyways?
Shane's POV
That bastard. I'll kill him. I should've acknowledged since the beginning these were all his deeds. There is no such prophecy over my pack. However, that's not what bothers me. What's bothering me is how does Stacy know him anyways?
I think it would be accurate to discuss this with my father first. Once I entered his room he walked right up to me.
"Dad, I-"
"I know why you're here, Shane. You're not the only one who got it." To say I was confused as heck was an understandment.
My face scrunched as my eyebrows pulled together. "What do you mean?"
My wolf was growling with rage as those words kept circling in my mind.
I can see that my father was trying his best to hide his anger from me, but I could feel it rolling off him. Not only that, but also the fact that he is probably blaming himself for this threat that I've received from him.
Sighing heavily, he passed me the small piece of paper he held on to since the minute I had walked in.
"The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies. Fourteen years ago, you made me realize that and now it's my turn. I'm coming to get what's rightfully mine. To defeat your son, Alpha Jace." I crumpled the paper as I read every word of it. How could he? I never even thought this would be him. It hurts to know he is still holding onto the feeling of resentment, but I don't blame him. However, he will not lay a hand on my mate. He wouldn't tell me what to do with my mate. She is MINE. Only mine.
Despite of him being-
"Shane, Sir," Stacy bowed at my father showing respect to the elder Alpha. "Sorry for interrupting, but can I talk to you? Please, S-Alpha?" This time the question was directed to me.
Curtly nodding at her I walked straight to my office as Stacy was hot on my tail.
Once we entered the office, she began, "So...I suspect you finally know who it is?"
"Yes, but what does this have to do with you? I swear Stacy if anything happens to my mate cuz of you I will rip you to sheds. I-" My anger was rising as every word escaped my mouth directing straight at Stacy. I noticed her flinch at my bitterness, but I could care less.
"I'm here to help you instead. I can't betray him as for my survival, but all I'll spill is..." she inhaled deeply "he is trying to provoke you. Just remember your conducts will declare his triumph or mislay"
I didn't know what she was directing to. My conducts? Once again, I was confused as hell. I need to get my shit straight. Now it isn't just about me, but also my Eve. I know at this point I owe her an explanation about him.
A/N: Just wondering... have any of you read Existence by Abbi Glines?
It's like one of my favourite novels out there! :")
Anyways, sorry for the late update!:( I've been busy lately! Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!:)
