"-and that's how it led to here." kairi finishes, as leilani finishes wiping the counter down. he skipped the guys hang out and went straight to the mall for advice about this whole situation of mattia switching up for him. she doesn't answer for awhile, making kairi put his hand out in confusion.
"i'm thinking, kairi."
"okay well...think loud! 'cause i thought you didn't hear any of that and i wasn't gonna expl-"
"-he's doing it not just for you but for himself." leilani cuts him off softly, putting the towel away and leaned her arms on the freshly cleaned counter.
kairi blinks in confusion/shock yet again, "okay and that's all you got from that?"
leilani laughs, touching kairis arm, "oh honey. you'll understand why."
"then help me understand!" kairi replies, rolling his eyes in frustration. he didn't understand why she was being so...weird and yet so spot on.
"listen...mattia is a lost cause, he needs a change...wait lemme rephrase that; he needs to change. it's better off for you & for all of his surroundings..." she trails off as if she's hiding something but closes her eyes to regain some information so he doesn't question it, "...just, be grateful he is, okay? don't say anything about it or judge him..cause he'll be insecure." she finishes with a reassuring smile.
kairi nods, checking the time. 3:40 pm.
"shit, i'm late.. do i still hang out with them?" he asks hypothetically.
"yeah, i'll be good here. go see how mattia is!" she says, even though he would've went anyway but he decided to be nice today.
"okay, i'll see you later!"
"wait before you leave!-" leilani pulls out a knick knack of a disney character, "-he kinda looks like you." he squinted and saw it was a smurf.
"fuck you, lei." he shakes his head with a smirk and walks out the store hearing leilanis laughter heading out the door.
she stopped laughing after a short period of time, starting to work as she thinks about the situation yet again, making her a little sad.
hopefully he understands.. she thought.

kairi bursts through alejandros door, surprisingly seeing mattia sitting in the corner showing robert a video of some meme.
"i'm sorry i was late my mom was holding me back." kairi announces and plops himself on his best friends bed.
the boys say 'yeah whatever' in unison and continue doing their own shit. to kairi, it was kind of boring.
alejandro looked like he had shit on his mind; alvaro trying to get alejandros attention, mattia & robert laughing about something (which kairi was jealous of but decided not to be annoying) and roshaun & mateo playing a game.
kairi just laid there, staring up at the LED lights.
alvaro soon asked everyone to get food, the boys ran out the door besides alejandro & kairi since they both politely declined.
"so what's up with you, ale?"
"hmm"
" 'hmm?' c'mon ale, you look like you got shit in there. what's up?" kairi points to his head. alejandro stares at him with a questionable expression.
"it's just..mattia."
kairi sits up a bit, "what about him?"
"he's different now. he ain't his assholic, piece of shit self. he's..nicer. its weird dude, he's even interacting with robert now!"
"yeah i did see that.."
"exactly! i don't know if i like it." alejandro crosses his arms in an annoyed way.
kairi remember what leilani said earlier today,
don't judge it.
"he might be doing it for his own good, yknow how angry and over emotional he is." kairi says, cringing at himself bevause he doesn't know if that's judge-full.
alejandro shakes his head in disbelief, "dunno dude..also, i need to tell you something and the others but i wanna tell you first."
"yeah?"
alejandro licks his lips in nervousness, itching the back of his neck, "alvaro & i are....dating?" kairi's eyes widened with a huge grin on his face.
"dude that's great! i'm so proud of you, good for you two!" kairi jumped up and hugged alejandro tightly.
"thanks..now we need you & mattia and the squad is set." alejandro giggles.
"i don't even know if i like him of not.." kairi mumbled.
you see, he really doesn't. because he has days where he is like, 'wow i like you' and some days where it's not. but he gets the butterflies all the time.
"bitch shut the fuck up, y'do."
"-do what?" mattia asks with fries in his hand, sitting next to kairi, making kairi blush slightly.
"your mom-" alejandro closes his mouth quickly, scared what mattia was about to do. everyone went kind of slient.
the italian laughed, "good one, asshole. here you want some?" he offered kairi some fries, which he gladly accepted it.
mattia smiles at kairi, making kairi giggle. that instantly gave mattia butterflies in his stomach and looked away to not blush at him.
the boys enjoyed their day together and did some stupid shit, as usual.

at the end of the night, alvaro & alejandro announced their relationship. everyone was so proud of them, mattia was of course but he felt some type of sadness deep inside of him.
he tried not to dwell on it but looking at kairi made it a little better, staring at the side of his face. he smiled to himself but slowly faded, knowing what kairi is thinking it too.
