kairi and mattia stopped right in front of the boys' house. kairi looked over at him, mattia was visibly shaky, his breathing was slightly going heavier and heavier. some sweat building on his forehead.
anxiety.
kairi went to go for his hand, but mattia soon swatted it away when he saw his mom open the door. "Matti, my baby!"
mattia felt bad slightly for kairi as he puts on a fake smile and hugs his mom, "hi momma." they hugged for a couple seconds til his mom says to kairi, "thank you, kairi. you're a real life savior."
"anytime," kairi replies, "bye m-mattia."
"see ya, thanks kai." he nodded slightly. he mouthed 'text me goodnight' and walked into his empty home. his mom had a sad look on her face and asked for his son to sit down for a second.
"so, you may be wondering why he isn't here."
"nah, not really."
mattias mom sighed and continued, "he's living in italy now, with his side of the family. he's uh, staying there for awhile." she finishes, shifting in her seat.
"what did he do?" mattia asked curiously, putting his chin on his hand.
she gulped, "prison."
mattia moved slightly in shock, not again.

kairi walked home, kicking rocks with his vans. staring at the ground, he sure did miss him but it wasn't the right time to, he needs to see his family and he knows that. but he really did miss having someone to see everyday, talk to everyday, and just stare at all day.
he got too deep in his mind and started to smile-
"kairi?"
he turned around slowly, meeting a brown-eyed girl, with a dog on a leash. he wasn't really barking, kairi guesses he was old to new people.
"leilani?"
she smiled and hugged her new friend, kairi instantly hugged back. they broke off and he was slightly confused, "what are you doing here?"
"oh! i just dogsit my aunts dog. i didn't expect you lived around here! where were you heading?" leilani asked, showing kairi the dog. it was a small pug.
kairi bent down to pet it, the tag says "maxie".
"i was just dropping uh, mattia off to his house."
"oh shit! you didn't tell me! what happened after i saw you?"
kairi started laughing, he told the whole story on how mattia punched hector in the face and whatnot.
"wow, what a cute love story." leilani giggles, "are you guys together?"
kairi questioned that himself, they haven't kissed. only cuddled and flirted. as they were walking to a park, (they both had no talk whatsoever about going to the park, but they both just assumed cause they knew it's gonna be a long night) leilani looked over at him again to see if he was still thinking.
he answered shrugging, "i dunno, honestly. we confessed our feelings for each other, and i don't know if we are gonna be together."
leilani gasps in a pretend shock, "that bitch didn't pop the question?"
kairi shook his head. leilani scoffed, "i don't even know this kid. yet if i did i would be waking his ass up to ask you out." leilani says jokingly, pointing at kairi.
"he wanted to take things slow, he said. so that's what i'm trying to do. but it's so hard, yknow?" kairi says, scratching the back of his head in some sort of embarrassment.
