Kairi didn't know when it happened but it did. It was a normal day after school with the boys. He didn't have to go home straight away so he ended up at Alejandro's house. He was scrolling through tiktok when it occurred to him, his feelings, they came in waves when he saw a duet of Mattia and some girl. It was always a girl who felt the need to say something about Mattia. Hell, even duet when clearly there was no reason too. Kairi let out an annoyed huff when he read the caption; why is this boy so hot!!! 🥴

Okay, it's fine. Sure, they always say the same shit but it irked him this time and he wasn't being subtle about it either if by the way Ale stared at him with a raised eyebrow was any indicator.

Kairi lifted his head up from his chest to stare at the Latino. "Yes?" He mumbled.

"What's with the expression? You look like you finna murder someone."

"Nothing. I was just looking at some duet."

"With you?"

"Oh, no, it was with Mattia."

Ale's face shifted into one of confusion.

"Okay? Was it bad or something? Did you comment on it or..?"

"No, it wasn't bad. It was just some chic—.."

Kairi cut himself off. It sounded weird, he realized. It shouldn't bother him. He knew this so he cleared his throat and shook his head.

"Yeah, no, it's nothing."

Ale snorted in disbelief but didn't say anything else instead he went back to scrolling through Tiktok in boredom.

That was the day something clicked inside of Kairi. His emotions became a mess to juggle with. He shouldn't like Mattia. He was best friends with the kid for Christ's sake. It was fucking with his head. He knew he shouldn't be attracted. It wasn't that it was wrong. It was the fact he couldn't understand why he was attracted or why it started happening now, how he didn't even notice, that's what bothered the teen. Kairi also knew Mattia wasn't attracted to him—let alone guys—so, he didn't say anything.

Everyday was hell. He went to school, attended the classes, walked the hallways and all he could think about was the Italian. He knew the group knew something was wrong with him. The way they'd wait for him to come out of his head and answer a question that was repeated five times or the way they'd wave a hand in front of his face before punching him in the arm. Even their expressions.

"—uck's sake, dude. Are you listening?" A frustrated voice snapped—Ale—he realized, "you weren't even listening!"

"No! I was. I was."

Ale's face shifted into one of annoyance.

"What was I talking about?"

What was he talking about?
Shit.

"A girl..?" He guessed, he was wrong, and he knew it.

"No, dude. What's been on your mind? You've been M.I.A."

"I—I don't know. I don't wanna talk about it."
