It was childish and stupid.
For a guy like Mattia who loved noise it was childish and stupid.
The weather had been beautiful all day and then it decided to rain. Which, was fine if it hadn't been going on for a week. He liked the rain it was beautiful and serine but when that sharp sound pierced the clouds he immediately despised the weather.
It was just thunder.
It had been going on all week. The sunny skies would be replaced with gloomy clouds and loud sounds.
Mattia gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut as the thunder roared outside. He pulled the blanket closer to himself as if it could hide him from something invisible.
As if it would block out the sounds from outside.
It's fine. I'm fine. It's literally nothing.
So fucking childish. He mentally scolded himself for letting the fear consume him.
A loud clap of thunder had him jumping in his own skin. Tears blurred his vision as he pulled his phone out from under his pillow. He'd hate himself later but fear made him blind to his own movements as stared at the name before pushing dial.
Kairi. Please, I just want Kairi.
Answer me. Please. Please."Yuh?"
A voice pierced through his own cloud of panic and relief washed over him.
"Come over?" Mattia croaked out.
His Kairi was never one to disappoint and he didn't.
"Yeah, man, no problem. Gimme like five mins."
Mattia caught the tail end of the sound signifying the call ended. He let out a shaky breath before letting out a choked whimpered when the thunder roared on.
It was becoming too much. He hadn't been able to sleep for three fucking days. He wanted to cry, he wanted to sob, he wanted the thunder to go away and he knew it was childish but he was scared.
Mattia sat up as he felt his breathing pick up.
"Hey! You didn't answer your fucking phone, dude. I tried to come in the proper way..hey, you good?"
Mattia froze and looked at the familiar figure standing by his bed.
When the hell did Kairi get here?
Mattia slowly connected the dots; he had called Kairi, Kairi called back, he didn't answer so Kairi came in through his window.
Kairi took in Mattia's frazzled state and frowned in concern. Mattia was sitting up in his bed with the blankets swamped around him and he looked wrecked. He could see dried tear stains on his cheek with fresh ones gathering in his eyes.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" He asked, tone gentle and filled with concern.
Mattia let out a shaky breath.
"It's nothing..I, I didn't mean to call you, you can go—"
Mattia was cut out when a loud clap echoed in the sky.
He felt himself freeze.
"—attia?"
Mattia zoned in on Kairi and moved. He grabbed Kairi's wrist and pulled him into the bed.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please just stay.." He whimpered.
The oldest frowned and watched as Mattia clung to him. He could feel the other boy shaking as thunder continued to abuse the sky above.
"Oh, I see." He whispered, a low chuckle escaping his lips before he could stop himself.
It was cute.
Kairi wouldn't say it out loud knowing Mattia would get offended but he couldn't help the warmth that bloomed in him at the sight of Mattia clinging to his shirt.
"Matti, It's okay. I've got you. I won't let anything happen." He cooed, he readjusted their position to a more comfortable one.
He was sitting up slightly. His backside was supported by the headrest as Mattia was half on top of him. The youngest nuzzled into his chest and Kairi gently ran his fingers through his hair while he whispered sweet reassurances.
He continued that for awhile until he could feel Mattia slump into him then did he allow himself to stop the reassurances but his hand movements didn't.
He could see the bags under Mattia's eyes and he felt that protectiveness in him spark.
Mattia was scared of thunder and he didn't even know.
"It's okay, Matti. I'll be here from now on." He whispered into the room.
