familiar face but different reality

Kairi had been tasked on Earth to guide the humans into doing good and he loved it.

He watched people go about their mundane routine with interest.

It was exciting, never a dull day, he never thought he'd run into a demon though. That was his fault.

A sound caught his ear. It was a scream of distress, quickly, he moved into the alleyway the sound was emitting from and froze. A man was pressed against the wall, a demon, leaning into the others space whispering something in his ear.

"Hey!" Kairi snarled.

The demon looked up. His reptilian like pupils expanding from their slit. Leisurely, he pulled back from the man and strutted over to Kairi.
Kairi's golden eyes flickered to each movement the demon made.

"Heya, Angel." He smirked, "Who do I owe this blessing of meeting you today?"

"What are you doing, filth?" Kairi questioned.

"Oh, straight to the point, I like an angel who knows what they want." The demon purred, leaning into Kairi's personal space. The angel stood his ground and clenched his jaw as annoyance sparked through him.

"What were you doing with that human, demon?" Kairi seethed.

The demon clicked his tongue when he realized he wasn't getting anywhere with the celestial being.

"Man, the dude made a deal with me is all. Goddamn." He grouched.

"Hey! Don't use the Lord's name in vain."

"Oh, dear. My apologies for offending dear Daddy."

Kairi's eyebrow twitched in annoyance as he stared at the demon before him.

"Why are you topside? Last I checked demons don't just walk around."

"Must be out of date or your fairly new. We filth are allowed to be out and about."

That's how Kairi found out demons and angels roamed the earth and wasn't that just lovely?

Next time he saw the demon he actually bothered to learn his name.

"Do you have a name, filth?" Kairi asked, his eyebrow raised in annoyance when he caught the demon sucking a hickey onto a teenage girls's neck.

"Mattia," the demon purred, watching his prey walk away with a flirtatious wink then bringing his sultry gaze onto Kairi, "though, you could call me Dad—"

"Mattia's fine." Kairi squeaked, clearing his throat as he walked away muttering about sins and demons.

Kairi felt like he knew Mattia which was baffling but when he was around the demon it felt familiar. Their dynamic was easy going and he couldn't help but be okay with being around him.

"Hey, Angel." Mattia's voice rang out in the empty air.

Kairi looked towards his left and sighed.

"Yes, demon?" He asked, a frown on his lips.

"I have a question."

"Okay?"

"So, what's the angel equivalent of a succubus?" Mattia questioned with a tilt of his head.

"There isn't any." Kairi hissed, "Unlike you foul beasts, we angels are incapable of sin."

The demon responded with uproarious laughter, "Oh please!" He pulled Kairi in by his collar, bringing them both face to face, "I've had plenty of angels under my boot who would say otherwise."

Kairi's breath hitched and his heart hammered as he stared into those reptilian eyes. His golden eyes flickered between Mattia's eyes to his lips, a voice nagged at him to kiss him, to connect again. So, Kairi did. He leaned in and captured the demon's lips with his own. He could feel the muffled sound of surprise from Mattia but it was a delight when the demon didn't pull away. Something felt right, felt familiar, they moved in sync as if they've done this before as if they kissed more than once.

When they pulled away he could see the succubus's confusion.

"Well, didn't know you had it in you, angel." He  uttered, shakily.

"Tia, what was that?"

"I don't know."

"I know you, I do, I know it my soul but I don't know why I can't remember?"

Fate was weird.
It had a way of connecting lovers together. It kept them tied and never let them loose sight of another.

A demon and an angel.
A boy and a boy.

No matter the form they took they were lovers bound by fate and fate liked keeping them together.
