It was something he shouldn't be nervous about. Mattia knew that if he asked he'd get a positive answer. He knew that but it didn't stop the nerves from buzzing under his skin. Yet, as he stood in front of Kairi with a sheepish smile the words seemed to fumble.

"I, wait, hold on, how do I reword this.." he muttered, gnawing on his lips.

Kairi arched an eyebrow at him. "Mattia, just spit it out."

"Damn, okay. Okay, so, like—my family got an invitation to a wedding. I can bring a plus one, would you, you know?"

"You know," Kairi snickered as he mocked Mattia's inability to say the word, "you mean a date?" He purred, a smirk forming on his lips.

Mattia felt his cheeks burn at the mischievous glint in the older boys eyes, "Man, fuck you. I'll ask Ale."

Kairi barked out a laugh and shook his head. "As if, you know he'd ruin it before he even got there. Plus don't you wanna take lil old me on a date? I'm date material."

"Date material? Dude, you've never been on one before."

"Your point?"

There was a star off between the two before they both barked out a laugh. Kairi slung his arm over Mattia's shoulder albeit awkwardly due to their height difference.

Mattia leaned against the door way as he watched Kairi struggle with his tie an amusing smirk tugging on his lip.

"Aww, you struggling?" Mattia cooed, poking fun at the other, "what happened? Can't even tie a tie? I thought you'd be date material."

Kairi rolled his eyes and glared at the younger boy.

"Shut the fuck up and help me."

"Ask nicely."

"Oh, go fuck off."

"Good enough."

Mattia chuckled as he walked over to the older boy, leaning into his space, he grasped the tie and proceeded to fix it. He watched with amusement as the older boy's breath hitched at such a simple gesture.

"You good?" He purred, glancing at Kairi's face. A smile formed on his lips as he saw pink dusted over Kairi's cheeks.

Kairi narrowed his eyes at the younger boy before leaning in to the other's space, "Hey," he whispered, lips ghosting over each other, "You good?" He mocked, watching as Mattia's eyes widened as red took over his features. He leaned back as he admired the affect he had on Mattia. He dusted fake lint off the others suit just to feel the boy shudder against him before intertwining their fingers as he lead Mattia out of the room.

It didn't take long for everyone to disperse after watching the bridge and groom say their 'I do's'. The boys walked around together, smiling, nodding, and conversing with Mattia's family. He knew the other boy hated social gatherings, he knew of Mattia's anxieties, how it stressed him out. He felt it in the way Mattia was pressed against him or how the other would squeeze his hand when other people got in their way.

"Mattia!" A feminine voice called out, from the corner of his eye he caught Mattia stiffen which prompted him to slightly step in front of the other as if he could hide the other boy. It was silly, yet, he couldn't help it.

"Auntie." Mattia smiled thinly, "how are you?"

"Oh! I'm great! Isn't the wedding wonderful. Oh? Who is this handsome boy!" She chattered, staring at Kairi, "Is he your boyfriend?"

"Ah, something like that. I'm Kairi. It's nice to meet you."

Mattia watched in slight awe how Kairi carried the conversation. It was like seeing a different side to the boy he wasn't accustomed to; he was used to a Kairi who teased and joked not one who carried such conversations. It was like someone flipped a switch.

Throughout the wedding Kairi would intervene with majority of the conversations he was in—no, it wasn't a bad thing, if anything Mattia was grateful for it. It saved him from the worries and weight of saying something impolite. It prevented him from being drained of socializing. The anxiety that buzzed underneath his skin would disperse each time Kairi took the reigns of the conversation so he would stand back and watch.

Mattia let out a groan as they walked into their shared hotel room. He shrugged his suit and tie off, letting his shoes slip off, as he flopped onto the bed. His back hitting the mattress as he let out a pleased sigh at the feeling of the bed underneath him.

"Ay, don't fall asleep yet. We still have to change into our pajamas." Kairi called out, ignoring Mattia's pitiful whines.

A beat of silence before,

"Kairi, you know I'm thankful, right?"

"Yes, Mattia. I know."

Kairi smiled as watched the other boy lean upwards on his forearms to stare at him. He squinted at Kairi for a second.

"Hmm, okay."

Kairi snorted before he waltzed over to the bed and crawled over the younger boy to lay on.

"Ay! You have your own bed!" Mattia squawked.

"Sure, I do but it doesn't have you in it." He snorted, "when are you gonna tell me you love me?"

Mattia froze beneath Kairi.

"Hm?" Kairi prompted.

Mattia inhaled sharply as he stared up at the boy, Kairi leaned in, letting their foreheads rest against one another.

"You told me you would've asked Ale but we both know you actually wouldn't. You wanted me, didn't you?" Kairi continued to talk, "I know that. So, tell me, Mattia. Tell me you love me. You didn't deny what I told your Aunty. So, why don't we just date already?"

Mattia's breath hitched as he stared into brown eyes that burned with a passion.

Yes, he loved Kairi. He wanted Kairi.
He could have him.

Kairi was saying he could have him.

"Hey, Kairi?"

"Yea, Matti?"

"Be my boyfriend, please."

"Of course."
