Kairi and Matti discussed a lot that night about Mattia's situation.

How Kairi was scared for Mattia, how he wanted to slap him, how he had been disappointed; how close Kairi came to dialing the ambulance because Mattia wouldn't stop sweating and puking.

They talked until the birds chirped and slept until the sun was gone and the moon was out.

Mattia woke first.

He stared at the boy curled up on his chest and gently ran his fingers through Kairi's hair.

Mattia adored Kairi. He wanted the older's boy attention. He wanted to touch him; he always wanted to be close.

Mattia couldn't get enough of Kairi.

He knew he was selfish.

He was possessive.

He liked being Kairi's best friend.

He loved knowing stuff other people didn't because it meant Kairi trusted him more than others.

Mattia loved being Kairi's center and he loved Kairi being his.

That's why he needed to confess despite the butterflies or the anxiety swirling around. He needed to confess to the older boy; to tell him, he loved him. He needed to say it before someone took Kairi from him; took the one thing that made him happy.

Unbelievably happy.

Mattia stared at the sleeping form and ignored the way a smile formed or how his face felt hot.

Yes, he loved this boy.

"I love you," he whispered, "I love Kairi Cosentino."

The boy on top of him slowly began to awaken and when he did, he froze, he lifted his head off of Mattia's chest and stared.

"What?" He croaked out, "Say it again, Matti."

Mattia felt his stomach explode with butterflies.

"You weren't supposed to hear that—"

"Mattia, please."

"I said..I said, I love you. I love you, Kairi Cosentino."

Mattia watched as Kairi's eyes gleamed with happiness. He swore Kairi could light up the room with just his experission alone cause Kairi was his light when things got dark.

Kairi was everything.

Kairi was the reason he was happy and safe.

Kairi was home.

Kairi grasped Mattia's face in between his hands and looked into the boy's eyes.

"Mattia, I'm so fucking in love with you."

That night when the world was silent they whispered sweet nothings and held onto each other like the world would rip them away from each other.

They held on because now they could.

This confession unlocked new things for them.

It meant that they didn't have to pull away when a hug was too long; that they could cuddle now.

They didn't have to freeze when they stared at each other because now this meant they were free to admire each other's body. They didn't need to watch what they said; they could press their love against each other's lips when they kissed.

They left their own marks on one another that showed the world who they belonged too.

Kairi stared into bright hazel eyes and smiled.

They were finally done skirting around a worn out bush.

Here in Mattia's room they laid and allowed themselves to bask in their love.
